I only feed my dogs Pedigree. I think that is the best food. I have a mini dachshund and he now eats the adult dog food. So it is still ok for small dogs like yours.

Ask your vet what is best for your dog. I have only fed my dogs Pedigree Lamb and rice since they were pups. Once in awhile they may get a few table scraps as a treat. Only pork chop or steak bones. That's because the chicken or turkey bones splinter.

My vet said this was fine for them....not to much table stuff. And Kate is now about 17 yrs old and Sue is about 16 1/2 yrs old. Have had them since they were 8 weeks and the other 6 months.

They are both still very healthy and active.

Check out www.spoiled-rotten-pets.com
They have an area where you can rate the food you feed.
Read it. It will tell you how to tell what is a good dog food and what you need to know about food.
They also sell some of the best dog food available today there. It can be puchased in your area or ordered from them.
Having little dogs it is very important to feed them good food. THey do not eat much and you want to be sure what you put in is good stuff.

We use the brand NUTRO Ultra for our dogs. This is a more premium type dog food with good natural ingredients. We get that at Petco or Petsmart. They have different type for the breed size and needs... Try a small bag and see what you think....

Good Luck

I like canidae, but there wont' be one universal best dog food...different breeds and individual dogs have specific needs that may be better met by one brand over another. It is safe to say that you shouldn't buy your dog food from the grocery store, most of these are of lower quality and won't provide your dog with the best nutrition.

The best dog food in my opinion is Innova Evo. It's a raw diet in dry food form. It is a dogs natural diet preserved with vitamin E. For any breed, small or large, it is the best you can feed your dogs. I'm sure you can find them on line.

From what I have learned in having dogs my whole life is a secret that my vet told me one time....Look at the ingredients on the back and as long as the very first ingredient is not ground yellow corn you are good! Better to have beef, chicken, fish or lamb. (Or something along those lines) I use Purina One...a little expensive, but its worth it to me!

give your dogs a good mixture of zinc, fat and fibre. you can try the purina active or the pedigree 'small adult dogs' food. feed them after consulting your vet. also, the food depends on the age, allergic reactions etc of the pet.

Ask your vet, there are lots and lots of options, and some don't always use processed dog foods. Ask your vet what type of diet is right for your dogs.
