If it is an innocent attempt to contact him, go for it! As long as you can accept and respect that he has moved on, I don't see what harm it could bring. It is natural to wonder about someone well being especially if the reason that you two broke up was a friendly reason and you are in no way wanting to jeopardize his present relationship. Good luck. If you still love him and he is unattached, then maybe there will be room for reconciliation.

Why do you want to contact someone you haven't been with in 2 years? I mean if you had recently broke up and needed to talk things over sure go for it...but its been 2 years...you should not contact him unless you have something you need to return to him or had his child. Seriously 2 years is enough for a person to start dating again and settling down with someone new, or perhaps starting something new in their life.... why would you want to contact them and perhaps put a halt in their life? Ask yourself why do you want to call him? Why do you want to call him after 2 years? What would you talk to him about? Do you want to remind each other why you broke up in the first place?

Look, I know that we as women, tend to think about our past lovers and I know we get tempted to call them, but I have learned from experience its not nice to call someone after a certain period of time where you haven't talked to each other in so long...it only opens up old wounds and sprinkles some salt on it, and makes you wanna cry and feel worse than you did when you first thought about that person. So I personally don't think you should....unless you have a really good reason.

Why do you need to contact him. Do you know if he has a girlfriend? If he does, then DONT... you'll just be causing you and him some un needed drama. If its because of something personal, like you had his child, or caught an std, then YES contact him, If its not something serious and you just want to know what he is doing or up to lately, I say give it a few months to really think about it before doing it. You could be causing drama that neither of you want.

You could; but keep in mind that he may have someone else in his life who may not like the intrusion. If you can, try to call him at work and ask to meet for coffee/lunch first then you can scope out the situation.
Not sure what you mean about 'should I contact' him. Only you can decide that, and figure out your reasons for wanting to do so. Is it to get back together? Just to chat and catch up? What?

There is no problem for that if your intentions are pure, contact him for good reasons but if you are trying to win him back, you should have a hint if he likes to be with you as well, but if he has move on and have a new partner maybe you can be good friends with him after all 5 years is very much long.

remember people with good intentions always succeed

Why? He has moved on, is more than probably with someone else now. Unless you have a very good reason to contact him, leave him alone. His life has nothing to do with you now.
