If you're religious and have strong cultural beliefs, then maybe she's right, you should wear ivory or even creme just something that's off white. You're only suppose to marry once and therefore only wear white once, so like I said if your strong on your cultural or religious beliefs than be truth full cuz your gonna seem dishonest to society/family, that's if they have those beliefs.
On the other hand if you're not into the whole right and wrong thing, then go for it, you only live life once and if that's a dream you have and you realized how important it was to you and how you regret not doing it the first one then where white, it's you wedding!
CONGRATS!!! GOOD LUCK!!

I have seen some gorgeous first time brides with color in their dress. Especially red around Christmas.
There use to be strict "rules" for weddings & especially 2nd-time brides. Second marriages were done quitely without any ado.
Well not any more!
Get married in what you want; however you want. You have lost love and found it again. Shouldn't that be celebrated???
Protocol does say that 2nd brides should not wear a veil. But I think you can still use a veil, tho' I do believe in saving the one covering the face for a 1st-time bride. But then, that's me.
It's your wedding, your money.
Congratulations!

you do what you want...it is your day, if you never actually had a wedding you can most certainly wear white. I did the same thing w/ my 1st and was never happy about not having a wedding....so when I remarried I did it the right way...and I wouldn't change a thing. I have seen recently the wedding dresses that are white w/ colored piping....they are beautiful, but like I said b4, you do what makes you happy, I know you love and trust your friends but they should want you to be happy. good luck and best wishes!!

Girl, you can wear any colour you like. There is absolutely no reason why you cannot wear white if you want to.
Once upon a time there was a tradition that brides that were not "pure" on their wedding day were not entitled to wear white. That's long since gone out the window, but its the tailcoats of that tradition that your friend is hanging on to.
Wear what you want, in what colour you want, and feel like a princess for a day.

i think your friends are right. In a traditional marriage, the bride wears white when she is pure. you have a child, so put a little color in it. besides, more and more brides are getting married wearing wedding dresses with color. it's stylish, and most of all can be beautiful when you blend the right colors. congrats on the marriage.

I think that you should wear white if you want. but you know, color isnt bad. I actually think it looks really nice most of the time, and a lot of times better than white. pick something that will match your hair/eyes/skin color. i would say peach over ivory.

I think it's YOUR wedding and you should wear whatever YOU want to wear ... don't let other people tell you what's right and what's wrong ... it's a wedding not a political party where the family and friends get to choose and vote what's going to happen ... stand up for yourself and don't let them walk all over you ... remember what the wedding is for ... celebration ... joining of two families ... they should be happy you found somebody for your child and somebody that loves you ... period ... !

It's totally up to you! That's the best part! You can wear white or red or blue, it's your choice. The "virginal white" stygma is gone, and it's now just one of your many choices. Don't be limited by colour, explore all of your options, and as you said, pick the one that makes you cry. Good luck!
