Sometimes when you are young, people can sort of be pressured or infleunced by their parents into a belief. But don't worry, as you get older and think and reflect, beliefs change. Beliefs may change, slightly or significantly, in people many times as they experience the world more, and experience inner conflicts. Someone who is today a believer could easily become an atheist one day, even vice-versa (though I doubt any atheist would ever want to become a "believer" lol).

I believe in God because of what I have seen with my own two eyes I am a very rational person and I don't believe anything that doesnt make sense to me. God makes perfect sense as far as Ive seen in my own life. If you could understand the things God has done for me you'd understand. Its more than a feeling have you ever been so overwhelmed and sad and tired and hopeless to the point of wanting to just give up on life, crawl into a bed and sleep for months, then to pray or call on Jesus and have a new outlook immediately. My life has been changed and I thank God for that.

I always felt like there was something more to life, always suspected that there was more purpose to my life than just earning a paycheck to pay the bills. A tv preacher came on tv one morning and I waited for him to ask for money, I wanted to see how long it would take before he put out the cash grab, but the man never did, instead he said that I was in fact made for a reason and could experience new and full life in Jesus. I took his word for it and shut off the tv and knelt in my living room and prayed to jesus, and I was forever changed. If nothing had happened, I would not be here today, I knew no christians, It took me a year after this experience to start going to church because I felt I needed to be invited by a christian, I couldn't just walk in.

I already had my beliefs - everyone has beliefs ... I read up on allot of different religions... I don't classify myself by saying I am completely one religion, because I am not. I do fit into one religion better than any other, but I do not believe everything about that one religion.

Just go off of your beliefs. Besides, the only person who has to live with your decision is you.

I believe in the Word of God, aka The Holy Bible. This is because the many things it talks about I can see happening already, more especially in nature of humanity in this day and age, the way we are becoming more merciless, ruthless, violent, greedy, malicious. In addition, as long as death exists, I will believe in Jesus Christ because He tells me that if I believe in Him I will have everlasting life. He will raise me up on the last day and keep me to Himself for eternity. Plus I'm garanteed protection while am here on earth (Psalm 91), amongst other beautiful things promised my God.

God says to love Him and others. Simple as that no rules or religion to follow. God looks at our hearts not what we do or don't do. If you long for truth but the world is so messed up, misunderstood, and misinterpreted I know God will look into the heart of man and see if it was there, and He will honor that. There are too many religions and rules to even try to determine which would be the best for you. That is where His Grace covers us.

I am an atheist

Because I am an intelligent rational human being who's desire to fit in does not overwhelm my desire to know the truth.

I am not narcissistic, and do not believe the human race is the chosen species and more valuable than all others just because our brains are more developed.

The unknown does not frighten me and I have no need to fill in the gaps with fairy tales to make myself feel better.

I'm not an idiot.

Is that good enough for you?

Belief is not a choice. Your mind derives a belief based on all available facts by weighing the evidence for all possible conclusions and deciding which is most likely.

Always question and look at such things with a critical eye!
If you believe because it felt or feels good then that's alright, irregardless whether someone told you or learned it on your own.
But any lingering doubts should be investigated and questioned.

I believe that there is a higher power out there. Is it God, Allah, Buddha or Vishnu? Who knows? But, it is good for you spiritually to believe in something aside from yourself or your surrounding. This will enable you to open your mind and grasp ideas that you would not normally think of. This is what happens for me. Good luck.
