nope.. but the taste might be coming from your pipes--which might be rusty. i would buy a 3-stage filter to filter out the ff which are in your water--depending on which state you live in:
1. chlorine
2. flourine
3. heavy metals such as iron and lead (dangerous)
4. bacteria (which is why they put chlorine in it..)
too much of anything is not healthy.. so if i were you, not only to get rid of the taste, but also to remain healthy-- invest in a 3 stage filter like Pur or another brand named Expel? something like that.. pur is about $40 and the other is about $30.. go figure.. but its so much healthier in the end--for you..
good luck!
btw, if you just dont want the taste, brita would be fine.. but personally, i dont like having all that crap in my water

It might taste funny even if you boil it-- depending on what you boil it in and store it in. My grandmother likes boiling her water in a metal teapot and storing it in a plastic pitcher, and I always think it tastes funny.
If your filter is old and you haven't replaced it, then it's not filtering your water. Just get a new one.
Or go with bottled water. Some people may think it tastes funny (I mean, taste really is subjective) but I prefer bottled spring water to other types of water (even bottled purified water).

boiling kills bacteria, but will not change the mineral content. The Canned taste is most likely a combination of heavy water supply and piping residue. Only a filter will remove the taste.

i think you should replace the filter. and if it still taste funny, do not use it anymore for drinking purposes, have it check by your local water company better still, use bottled water for drinking. i really think it is not safe to drink.

Drink bottled water. I have for years since I don't trust ground water anymore. You never know what they are doing to it. It's not that expensive and worth it in the long run.

Sounds like you don't have any air dissolved in your water. Water must stand too long in the system before it gets to your house. Don't know what you can do to aerate it though.
