It seems to me that that NAFTA has done nothing but escalate the American border issues with Mexico. It is my personal opinion that NAFTA does as much for free trade as the Patriot Act does for Civil Rights. What are your thoughts on the subject?

Hmm, I'm looking for your THOUGHTS on the subject. A "." or a yes or no isn't gonna cut it.

NAFTA and GATT has only seem to made it easier for companies to move into other countries, not abide by all their saftety and worker rules, and exploit that nations workforce. I dont see where it has increased the living standard of any country, including Mexico, otherwise why is there an increase in immigration into the United States? NAFTA and GATT should both be scrapped before we lose what is left of our manufacturing (and now telephone and online service) jobs.

What do you think you'll have
when you Destroy the American People??
And the American Infrastructure??

The United States will Cease To Exist

Do you Think you'll be Free?
Do you Think you'll be The Master of your Destiny?

Think Again because the people that you are supporting -
the Illegal Invaders to America Aren't Educated enough
and They Aren't Smart enough.

If WE THE PEOPLE Don't Stop It,
It is going to Destroy us ALL Eventually.

They(US GOVT.) will turn America
into the same kind of country that Mexico is -
a Fascist State
with a tiny minority Controlling ALL the Wealth-
and the rest of the people in Abject Poverty.

They(IMMIGRANTS)
will be The MODERN DAY EQUIVALENT Of Slaves -

And SO WILL WE (Citizens)

They(Immigrants) are Being Used in a Political Game,
and what This Country's Government is doing to Them
is an Insult to Them,
but they aren't bright enough to figure that out..........
(??Or ARE They??)
And apparently MANY AMERICANS aren't either.

Wealthy farmers and landowners
have always considered slavery as a birthright.
Since the Civil War, it has been denied to them,

But they got it back
with the WTO GATS - FTAA - NAFTA - CAFTA -agreements.

Mexico Has AGREED
To Export Her POVERTY To The USA

And therein lies the strategy
for addressing the question of illegal aliens,
the so-called ‘guest worker’ programs,
the sale of American citizenship for profit
and the destruction of the lives of American citizens
who are being crushed
financially,
emotionally
and spiritually
by the WTO trade agreements

"The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil
is for good men to do nothing."
Edmund Burke

We have to start calling it what it is -
Slave Trade
and we need to dig out our blue uniforms
and fight the war against the Slavers once again.

Yes it should never have passed but thanks to Mr. Clinton he got it through and now the same liberals are claiming the republicans are the cause for jobs going over seas. NAFTA was the drain plug that the Democrates pulled to start the flow. One of the Congressmen for Texas, a democrate, spoke endlessly after session because he was worried that no one truely understood the ramifications of NAFTA. What a brilliant man he was and I wish other Congressmen had his forethought regardless of party.

Lets put it this way.. I'm a disabled veteran, yet I can't legally vote, nor work, unless the classification date of the ..... in Iraq has expired...

So.. since I'm already on lockdown, and can't draw unemployment, nor welfare, food stamps, medicare, or any kind of health/ dental care, and have to pay for my own disability bills on my own expense-- actually my mothers, than there is no use going thru the trouble of elaborating on the fact that I feel it is highly necessary to abolish NAFTA...

Specifically because I am literally a "no-body."

And I'm not joking what-so-ever!
You ask how is this possible? Well, I refused to sign a clearance waiver, furthermore, everything happened before I was "forced" to sign a waiver. Government isn't about America-- but I'm writing a ..... about it.. You'll just have to wait till it comes out.

(Mind you, there's many more links where that came from).

From Canada I agree. The structure of the agreement just turns it into another tool for companies to use to create more trade restrictions. It is counter productive. It causes more harm than good. A totally spurious trade claim can tie the border up for years, in effect a totally private tariff system out of government control.

The New York Times reported today that there is a study showing no evidence supporting the argument that people coming across the border from Mexico take jobs away from people.

http://www.nytimes.com/glogin?URI=http://www.nytimes.com/2006/08/11/us/11immig.html&OQ=_rQ3D2Q26nQ3DTopQ252fReferenceQ252fTimesQ2520TopicsQ252fSubjectsQ252fIQ252fImmigrationQ2520andQ2520RefugeesQ26orefQ3Dslogin&OP=5dcd7896Q2FQ27Q3FQ3DEQ27aNUy5NNgQ60Q27Q60AARQ27AnQ27Q2BQ2BQ27Q7ByQ27Q2BQ2BiZZic,sgZQ5E

But there IS evidence showing that these immigrants, illegal or otherwise, have helped support and grow the economy.

AND... to my understanding there is no evidence showing that there's been an INCREASE in activity at the border since NAFTA was put into place... although there's been an increase in ATTENTION... which makes it seem bigger.

So... no... it shouldn't.

First, has anybody collected data which collectively shows whether it has helped, harmed or basically done nothing? That would include for Cananda, US and Mexico.

Specific industries and locations most affected, either positively or negatively?

I really don't like to comment on a policy like this based on personal opinions and anecdotal evidence.

If it has been overall bad for the US, then we need to consider ending it, or significantly altering it.

NAFTA is a very important thing.
Mexico is the second most important countrie for the United States.
a third part of your petrolium comes from mexico.
a fourth part of your clothes comes from mexico
a fourth part of your paper comes from mexico
a second part from your silver comes from mexico.

And we have looooooots of united states corporations here in Mexico.

80% of what mexico exportates goes to the U.S.A.

Really if you cancel NAFTA more inmigrants will come to the united staes because mexico economy and part of the U.S.A economy will go down.

And the NAFTA is for canada too!.

Yes! I totally agree with you! It's just another American organization which takes advantage of its authority....Another domination plan I'm afraid.....I would propose to abolish other organizations and unions too; NATO, G8, United Nations, European Union.....They are just a bunch of fascists! Of course that will never happen...

Exactly!
I'm in North Carolina where it decimated the textile and furniture industries.

On a larger scale: Why do we subsidise the world to our own detriment. (NAFTA, China, foreign aid, giving 2500 lives for a "democracy project" in Iraq)

One Answer: New World Order - think about it.
