First I would find out why he is stuttering .Is he nervous , is he a toddler - 4 yrs old and cant get the words out fast enough?
If he is older and is stuttering because he is nervous , Talk w/ him and try to tech him to say Tougue Twisters slowly.
Toddler may grow out of it if its because he wants to get the words out quickly .I would have him evaluated by your pediatrician to determine what the cause is first.
Good Luck

You can't STOP a kid from stuttering. He needs to get help, like at school or if he isn't old enough call your local easter seals, they will help him with his speech and put him in a special school to help the stuttering ease. Usually that is not the only problem a child will have if they do stutter, you might want to see if he has a developmental delay too.

Tell him you understand how he feels,
and that you want to help him feel
better about himself if it bothers him.
Ask him if he wants to talk about it,
then LISTEN to what he is saying.
Don't try to tell him he is wrong about
anything he thinks about this,
be supportive and understanding
and loving.
Try to help him relax about it and
THEN do the therapy stuff.
I think half the time, the kid is
so nervous over the fear of doing
it that it stops him from being
ABLE to stop!
It is a really cruel world that a child
has to live in.
Good luck to you and especially to him.

You need to see a speech therapist, the sooner the better. Most kids outgrow it with some help, but they need the help.
