St. Moses the Egyptian is the patron saint of those who have committed criminal acts.
People in jail find Jesus in the same manner that people on the street find Jesus. Remaining devout after being released from incarceration is the biggest challenge.
People in jail join Muslim gangs and stab other people - not such a hot idea.

People either in jail or prison either come out preachers or the same way they went in. I do believe some people change but then their is a case where some will not. By being in the court office I do believe that some people change for the best and some want to do better but don't. Example, my uncle give great advice but he just don't take his own advice. I can listen to him even though he do some of everything, sometimes it pays to listen, and if we all do that we can make a lot of things or ways better than they are at the point.

Wow. I know exactly what you are saying. And I understand you being cynical.
God sometimes uses prison to reach people. When people are to busy getting into trouble or placing too much importance on any one thing, God will sometimes use their own dilemma to talk to them in their hearts and minds. God wants us to seek Him. He wants Us to Need Him. So if we have had an accident that has landed us in the hospital, or a circumstance beyond our control of time and resources; we seek Him. Once we are in the situation of needing God and seeking God , then God can take the situation, turn our life around and help us be who He created Us to be.
It does not matter what we were but what we are becoming. The apostle Paul was a Christian hater. He hunted Christian down and tortured and murdered them and their families. And on the Damascus road Jesus met him and changed his life. Paul who's name had been Saul was changed for the better for the rest of his life. Paul's teachings are still helping to change lives today over 2,000 now. Pretty powerful. Jesus can change anyone. We have free will so it is always possible to fall back into old habits but no matter how hard we try we will not be able to deny that things are wrong anymore. Our conscience is raised when we become a christian.
I hope you will at least wait and watch him before you make up your mind. Action speaks louder than words.

a lot of people get saved in jail because they realize what they are doing is wrong and because a lot of pastors will go and preach there. but you should not judge that person even though he has done so many bad things. it's hard to listen to someone try to tell you about the Bible if you've seen them do wrong things but if he's really become a christian then listen to him. a lot of ex-criminals like to preach because they don't want other poeple to make the same mistakes they did.
God gave him a second chance...so don't be afraid to

We have all done things in our life that is not pleasing to God, and yes, when people go to jail, a lot of them, do find Jesus, and thank God for that, because that lets us as Christians know that there are others out ther witnessing for Him.
I know that you still see this guy as you did from the past, b ut just as God forgives us, we have to forgive. I bet this guy has a great testimony and he could be inspiration for others, so yes, as a Christian, and a friend, you should listen to what he ahs to say.
Remember if you are a Christian, you have to love as Jesus loves us. Open up your heart.

There are two facets here.
1. People can change. Prison is intended, but not designed well, for the rehabilitation of criminals. If a criminal has successfull rehabilitated one of the possibilities of positive change is to find religion.
2. People can fake. Christianity is regarded, quite widely, as good. Criminals who are trying to get out on good behavior can count on the cross to add a few positive marks to that good behavior rating as long as they can act like they have found religion.
I'm not saying that religion is bad, but that individuals may claim to be something they are not. Only time will tell how many have truly changed.

People can change.
A lot of people that find Jesus in jail or prison lose their faith after being out a while. Some of them keep their faith forever.
It is a case-by-case basis. Wait and see.
In the meantime, if he is preaching the Word--not his own version of it--you can hear the message while suspending judgment about the messenger. God's Word comes from all types; he uses many human mouths.

This guy needs to go where his past is not known, if he wants to sell God's word. For the very reason you pointed out, people who haven't been saved, aren't going to trust or believe him. He's gonna get mighty frustrated stickin' around where he used to hang out and pull his Ho-beatings. This guy sounds like he was quite a punk. Let's hope he can stay on the right side of the fence for a while, because behavior isn't the easiest thing to change.

Most people who are in jail usually don't have anything better to do. The jails do have a Library and one inmate will go around wanting to know if they want a book to read. Most will get the Bible. This guy probably got the Bible while in prison and was changed by reading it. He reallized what he did was wrong in the sight of God and made a profession of faith to God. That's how people in jail are usually born again.

i think being in jail gives people alot of time to think, think about their past and their future, it gives them the opportunity to begin a change in their lives. most people would not have that opportunity if they were not in jail because they would be to busy trying to survive they would not be trying to better or change their lives.
sometimes it takes something big like jail, death, birth, divorce or whatever to push people to change their lives. but their past experiences will help them relate to other people. what better person to speak to a pimp or hooker than someone that really has been in that life. people may feel more comfortable with others that have been were they been and who changed their lives, they will not look at those people in the same way as someone that had a more privileged life.
so think about ....how those people can reach so many more people because of their past lives and the change in their own lives that they have made.
