I try to be tolerant. I am not perfect and I don't expect others to be. I don't like it when someone tries to tell me how to live my life so I don't think it is right for me to instruct others on how to live theirs. We are all individuals with our own ideas and experiences and our beliefs should be respected, not condemned or altered. There would be less problems in the world if we would just let people be. I think Jimi Hendrix said it best, "I am the one that has to die when it is my time to die, so let me live my life the way I want to."

very tolerant. I am tolerant of any and all adult behavior, as long as it is consentual and doesn't hurt anyone. I am tolerant of gay marraige, and if my son felt he had to be homosexual and married to another man I would throw flowers at his wedding with love and acceptance. I do not judge the poor and help my fellow man whenever I can. I do not descriminate aggainst anyone of any color or faith ( I know a very nice muslim ). I tolerate insults and small injuries that have been inflicted upon me in the name of love. I tolerate my life, even though I believe that I will never be the movie star, or pop diva I wish I could be. I'm about as tolerant a person as you'll ever meet. And, surprise, surprise, I'm an atheist.

Do I tolerate murder? Nope.
Do I tolerate a liar? Nope.
Do I tolerate an attacker? Nope.
Do I tolerate killing babies? Nope.
Do I tolerate food? Yep.
Do I tolerate peaceful faiths? Yep.
Do I tolerate working for a living? Yep.
Do I tolerate homosexuality? Yep.
Do I tolerate homosexuals being portrayed as "ok?" Nope.
Hmmm, if I tolerate some things but not others, am I tolerant or intolerant?
Shall I be enslaved to prove my tolerance? Shall I take drastic actions to portray my intolerance?
I want to live in peace, but to do so, I believe there must be war.
I am tolerant of that which is good.

You mean a non-believer in Christianity? Yeah, that's me. And no, I don't think I am. I know I am. I don't just tolerate diversity, I embrace and encourage it. I love it when people are proud of their religion/race/gender/sexuality, even if it's not the same as mine. Even with Christians! I saw a "Die hard Jesus freak" bumper sticker the other day and I smiled, even though most Christians bug the hell outta me. So anyway, I'm a very open-minded person. I love when people explain their religion to me when they're not trying to convert me, and gay people are awesome! They should have the same right to get married as we do, they are equal people. So yes, I am.

Tolerance erases absolutes and opens up the door to situational ethics. The prevelant thought in our society it that if it doesn't hurt anyone else then it isn't wrong. Is this a satisfying basis for the moral standards of a civilization. What is wrong with a moral code for society that criminalizes things that are self destructive as well as destructive to others.

Absolutely I am tolerant. And if everyone was, we wouldn't have things like fighting in the Middle East or holy wars. How am I tolerant? It's simple. I know that noone knows what happens after death or if God exists. Therefore, I am happy to hear about many other religious beliefs that others may have about their theories about what they think will happen. I accept them. I say they could be true. I don't know. And neither do you. And even to those people who say that I am DEFINITELY going to Hell and I MUST believe in whatever they are preaching whether it be scientology, Islam, Judaism, or Christianity, I don't mind. They have a right to an opinion and I am always glad to see that they are thinking about the world around them, even if I think they're likely incorrect. But there's never any reason for people to get upset about what others believe or to get into heated arguments over something we do not know. I am a non-believer, but I respect the views of believers and don't think of them any differently. And because of this, they are the same way to me. Sure, every once in a while friends may argue about how the Bible says this or common sense says that, but everyone's beliefs just shows how diverse humanity is with their ideas. Some people are very intolerant. If people could become more tolerant, just enough so that they can say that it doesn't matter what anyone else believes, Hezbollah and Israel could respect each other and create a peace treaty and permanent boundaries with the Arab World and Palestinians. The Crusades wouldn't have happened. If everyone was tolerant, there would have been no 9/11. Some of the very very radical Islamists are intolerant of the Western way of life. They do not respect our views and they wish to attack us. But if everyone was tolerant, they wouldn't have to try and kill us constantly. Of course, religious tolerance isn't the sole solution to world peace, but it is certainly a HUGE step in the right direction. A lot of wars have been fought, and will be fought over BELIEF. And the different beliefs are based on where we grew up or what our intuition says. Not fact or evidence. Obviously, countries would still have border disputes and such and may have wars. Ok fine. But at least we wouldn't have Hitler coming to power reading Martin Luther's works on "On the Jews and their Lies" and gives step-by-step instructions on how to eradicate them. FOR THEIR BELIEFS!!! How ridiculous! Hitler said that the Jewish people caused all the problems in Germany and then resorted to killing them because of their religious beliefs. Talk about intolerance!! Just think of all the people on the planet (Americans, Europeans etc) that died during that period leading up to WWII and during it. All because of intolerance. Everyone should just believe whatever it is that makes them happy. If you want to believe that your dead relatives watch over you and you will see them again one day, great! If not, fine! Whatever makes you motivated and enthusiastic about life and is able to comfort you when things aren't going so well is what you should believe. For me, that's a mix of agnosticism and atheism. For my best friend, whenever something goes wrong he says "God has a reason." And I love that. That's wonderful that he can believe that and it keeps him happy and loving life. Maybe it is true that God exists. Maybe it is false. But everyone should do whatever they find best for themselves personally, and everyone else should RESPECT and TOLERATE that. And relating to everything else besides religion, yes I am tolerant as well. It's your business if you're gay, like to have sex with animals, or your mother. Whatever makes you happy, AS LONG AS you are not hurting another human being. If it offends me, first and foremost, I do NOT have a RIGHt to be comfortable. That's not a right. As long as someone is not hurting anyone, in our free society, they can do whatever they please. Again whatever makes them happy. I don't treat anyone any differently than how I would like to be treated. Sure, sometimes if I hear about someone who did something gross I might pre-judge them in my head, but I don't TREAT them any differently. I am tolerant of whatever they want to do. Why do people care what others do anyway? You live your life, they can live theirs.

I do not see how being either a "believer," or "non-believer" can be a determinant of tolerance.
I like how just the phrase "believer" is supposed to mean something specific..believer in what specifically? I believe in Gd as I understand the principle, but I don't believe in the doctrine of Jesus Christ, so am I a believer or non-believer? For some I would totally be a non-believer...now that's intolerant.
I am not interested in people trying to save me. I don't need saving from anyone. Only I can save myself. I try to respect that people feel that they have a divine mission to preach to others, but it can become overwhelming to people who are already on a path they are comfortable with and have good reasons for staying on that path.
good day

Yes I try not to judge, I will never raise harsh words against someone for their appearance, creed, or sexual orientation. (except in rare cases that are hard to explain how i even get into them)
I use one thing as a reminder, i say it all the time and really believe it:
Matthew 7:1
