My mother is bipolar and goes on spending sprees whenever she gets any money in her hands. When she gets paid, it is the worst as she spends before she pays her bills. It seems like getting paid makes her swing into the manic phase. Is this possible?

I try to work with her, but she's not open to it. I just wondered about the money triggering the mania, that's all. Please don't give me advice on how to handle her as I know how to do this. I am just looking for answers to the money/trigger question. Thank you all so much!

With bipolar, everything is possible. keep a note of her reaction when money is available to make sure you are 100% certain.

I'm sure anything is possible. I do know that spending sprees can be part of the manic phase, but whether or not getting the money starts them, I don't know.
A relative of mine used to pass bad checks and even ended up in jail as a part of her manic phases. She would also buy pets she really didn't have the time or means to support.

Probably her mood cycle was starting to swing about the same time that she got money. Could be a trigger, it could just be the timing. Have you mentioned this to her doctor?

No but the way the money is handled might make the mania apparent.

properly, many stuff can make someone lie purposelessly. Paranoia is one in all them. the man feels that everthing will be dropped on them, so that they discover others to blame and are available up with the rationalization why. each now and then they sense that occurring is undermining their authority of their personal residence. and many different issues, appropriate to self lack of self assurance. Paranoia itself isn't the reason on my own, yet besides the persons frame of mind. As a vice chairman, she likely feels she has authority. something amiss will set off her popular reaction, discover the reason and take it out. (in an attempt to communicate.) sick be back in a sec to edit :P EDIT: Wow, that grow to be the longest 2d ever! =x in any case, back to the remember at hand. have self assurance me, i'm no psychological well being professional. I actually have some journey with bipolars, yet no longer a ton. the in uncomplicated words ingredient i might want to correctly be considered "qualified" to discuss right that's paranoia, because i have lived it. Paranoia can make one overreact to the least confusing of issues, for a pair causes. a million) it is something unpredicted, out of control. 2) it is something that's been bugging them, and it actually occurring freaks them out. The freaking out bit can take many sorts, from laying blame to having a actual/psychological breakdown. obviously hers is the first. Laying blame fills a void of self lack of self assurance, yet commonly the tale is incomplete... so that they make up more effective. there is the incessant mendacity. As I reported formerly, as a vice chairman, she feels she has authority. and evidently, it is also her abode. those little thongs might want to be considered as insubordination, and no one likes that. She might want to sense you attempt to make complications for her and her husband, so she's attempting to make you stay away. back, I gotta artwork in this.

Yes. Sounds like your mom enjoys the thrill of spending money.
Also sounds like your mom has enough money to last her a while.
If this bothers you, why not try to help her before things spiral out of control.
