No. Done my research, read the texts, talked with both practitioners and scholars and given what was put before my deduction was that deities do not exist.

Someone mentioned the level of complexity that's found in biology suggests something "higher" or something to that effect...
Consider this. The universe is finite, sure, but there are billions upon billions of stars. A certain percentage of those stars have planets, an even smaller percentage have planets that are hospitable to life (while it's a small percentage, remember that we're talking about a set of billions upon billions) on some of those planets, over a period of 13 to 14 billion years, life will eventually happen.
It's really simply a matter of probability. Given the enormous opportunity (i.e. the number of locations in the universe) and the enormous amount of time, the right reactions WILL occur.
We simply happen to be the fortunate first hand observers of this.
Now, that may not answer the question about whether there is or isn't a god, but it does steer the question away from using science to sell your argument.
And to answer your original question, I don't know.

Yes.
1) Meaning, whether one is discussing a word, an object or an action, is derived from context.
2) Meaning apparently exists. Even atheists find some meaningful words, objects and actions in life.
3) So either meaningfulness is an illusion, or else there must be some "thing" which provides the context for large scale and long term meanings.
4) For lack of a better term, why not call this guarantor of meaning, "God"?

In Judaism, they believe that Jesus was just a human.. and that there is only one devine being - God.
I don't believe. Plain an simple. I believe that religion is all based on the central fact that there is some devine being that is responsible for creating us.
I guess it's hard for people to believe that when we die, we're worm food.
However - whatever helps you make it through the day and make it through life is your own choice. If you think that there is some devine being that made life possible, then great! I think that religion is a sort of false hope - and it helps those who can't deal with the fact that they cease to exist after death. I'm content with the idea that I am to become nothing after I die.

Hi, Madhur. First of all I thank you for posing an easy question and difficult to be answered. This is an age-old doubt that has been hunting and haunting the humanity. As far as I am concerned, I do believe in God and I don't believe too. I believe because, whenever I am in trouble and pray, some supernatural Power comes to my rescue. I am compelled to believe that this supernatural and unseen but experienced Power is nothing but God. I don't believe in God because why people are allowed to suffer from utter poverty, victims to terrorism, drug addiction and diseases. Inspite of my humble prayers requesting Him/Her to appear just for a second at least, so that I can prove my God is in such a form. The religious fanatics are corrupting the minds of the innocent people and exploiting them in the name of God. I am still praying the God to give me strength to prove that you are the only God belonging to the whole humanity. Amen!

yes i do. while in university, i have done courses in artificial intelligence. Man, i tell you, you don't believe how hard it is to simulate an intelligent aspect of our brain. for the simple tasks of intelligence you write tons of coding lines, and stuff gets complicated and truly interesting at some point - you can somehow understand processes of perception and recognition, but emotions and creativity, not to say about consciousness... come on!
and you might think that it is easy to differentiate between a flower and a cat, but trust me, it is a very complicated process. it is how i became SURE that God exists: there has to be an intelligence behind this universe, otherwise nothing would have been able to come to life...
P.S. For David S who said " It's really simply a matter of probability. Given the enormous opportunity (i.e. the number of locations in the universe) and the enormous amount of time, the right reactions WILL occur. "
you are right, i have thought about it too.. but view the situation this way: i don't really think that god created us to worship him and to fight each other's religion. i believe his creation is muuch greater than just building us: he gave us the priciple of living: the first sparkle - the big bang contained all the information needed for us to become who we are. i don;t think is the you and me (the ego's) but the general in us that is soooo impossible to have just came to life by it's own. As Stephen Hawking said in one of his books, i quote from memory "the laws of physics make sense only in a mind, so the universe has no other explanation but if an intelligence concieved it". for me, it is a question how come that we have "laws" in physics ... how come that the earth always goes around the sun, with the same velocity and stuff? how come we have that sort of laws.
the very fact that this univers contains the "possiblity" or opportunity, as you said, for us humans to evolve, represents for me a sign that God exists.

there is Jahwe for Christians and for Jews (it's name of the God written in the part of the Bible which is used by both of these religions :)
at times I think there is God, somewhere, or an absolute spirit or sth like that, that's all, i don't go to any services and personally dislike and distrust the religious organisations (especially the catholic church in europe, where I live)
What concerns me more is that no matter what we think, what we believe in we should always remember that we are all equal, we are all brothers and sisters in methaforical sense. We can not forget that love, friendship, good, trust, hope, fear and need of security is common for every nation, every human... Unfortunately people keep forgeting about this thruth.
Differences should fascinate and enrich, not separate
This is my religion :D
peace!

Yes. Because of the complexities and diversity of life on this planet. I cannot believe a group of cells decided they wanted to grow wings and fly. Why do huge Panda bears have to eat bamboo all day long to survive, how to catapillars turn into ooze then emerge as a butterfly? It can't be pure evolution, it just can't. There is a certain amount of evolution in species, but it is too hard to believe that so many oddities emerged from the primordial ooze.

I don't just believe in God. I KNOW He exists.
I know this because every time I've asked Christ's Blessed Mother Mary to pray for me to God when I've been in true need, I have NEVER been let down.
Her prayers for me have always been answered. ALWAYS.
With regard to some of these cases, I'm talking about trouble that logically speaking I had no business getting out of.
This proves to me that Mary is real, that Her Son is real, that the Holy Spirit is real, and that the Father is real.
There's no doubt whatsoever in my mind. God is real. I know He is.

I believe that there could be something, some force or even consciousness, that we would consider God. I firmly don't believe that any religion on this planet has the truth of the matter (or even close).
I also suspect that if this God did create life and the universe, then it has moved on to other things and has mostly left us to our own devices.

I believe just because of the way my life has changed since I accepted Jesus as my lord and savior. Everyone is different but my answer to depression and anger and just a pointless existence wasnt any drug for me it was and is God. People could argue all day but my greatest proof is my life and my testimony. God bless!
