Kurt Godel demonstrated that any non-contradictory rule based system cannot grasp the truths of the human mind. Applied specifically, rules cannot suffice for morality. Modern evidence suggests that our nervous systems are not shaped by rules, but form modes of functioning which can be (ad hoc) described by rules. Instead, the nervous system is shaped by examples. How intelligent someones answer is depends on 1) their initial set point before they started recieving example that modified their NS, and 2) the relative value of those examples for dealing with a given scenario. The most important examples people can have (my opinion) are those that open us to further expereinces (or examples). This is what faith is supposed to be for, but it has ended up actually undermining peoples openness. It literally prevents education by presenting the facade that everything has been answered. Intelligent answers from the deeply religious may simply be impossible, at least based on the examples I've seen.
