How do schools in california work?

I heard they go for 2 months and then they get off for 1 month, and there is no summer they just go to the next grade.

Some schools in California are on the "track system" and go for 2 months on 1 month off and no summer vacation. There are still schools that go August thru June and have summer vacation.

I doubt that's true. All schools in the US have to have 180 in school days. So what you said is impossible. It's just like any other state. 7-8 hours/day.
