Why do people always pose this question to black people. We don't care who everyone else is dating. Why is everyone so concerned about us and our love lives? I am a black woman and I have a preference for black men but I believe people should date whomever they damn well please. I pose this question to you, Why is this such a big issue with people?

I honestly believe it has something to do with the fact that white women were off limits during slavery. Anything that is off limits looks tantalizing to the eye.

Black men were tempted by white women, thus black men dating them today. Black women were beat by white men, and if they did love a black women, it could not be expressed in public, thus rarely seeing black women with white men today.

I think that a lot of black men, and black women have gotten burned by one another, thus going to different races thinking it's better when in reality it's all the same.

There is a no good dog, and a ho in every race.

LOL....black men don't ONLY date white women...but you are probably right that black women rarely date white men. Even though race shouldn't matter, it's probably a matter of preference...everyone has a preference, but anyway, I really don't know...

I USED to get upset about this whole issue when I was immature, but now it doesn't matter to me as it's none of my business and although a lot of black women who havn't dated a white guy would swear out that they would NEVER date a white guy are usually the one's that end up marrying one as it's not the color of the skin but personality!

Good luck on finding your answer!

Although it is more common to see a black man with a white women than a black woman with a white man. There are many black women dating and married to white men. I know quite a few.

However you don't get to witness seeing black women/white men couples as much because the society prefers to sensationalize black men/white women couples. Whenever a famous man regardless of race marries a black woman you hardly ever hear about it or even know what she looks like, but when they talk about O.J. or Kobe, you see the white wife's face plastered everywhere.

Unfortunately, racism still has a negative impact on the way some people choose to relate to others.

Not long ago, black men were discouraged and lynched for getting involved with white women. Black women on the other hand, were always sexually accessible to white men whether they wanted to be or not. If a white man violates a black woman justice is still hardly ever sought.

Even though black men have not allowed racism to discourage them for pursuing interracial relationships, many black women still feel the pain of being raped, and forced to have involvement with white men in order to survive during slavery and even afterwards in some cases.

I believe that many white men find black women attractive and vice versa, but because of the way many black women have been stigmatized in our society many black women and white men do not feel comfortable dating each other. Many black women also prefer to remain loyal to dating only black men.

I really could care less who anybody chooses to date. Whatever makes them happy is fine with me.

I'd like to know too, I live in London and there is good ethnic mix here, but I see more black men/white women than black women/white men. Race isn't an issue for me, I'd go out with a woman of any race.

...thought black lasses were bereft of ultimate prejudice! Met black men who would die before dissing black women. Methinks the more mature of black men who have tried to date 'their sisters' (so to speak) have slunk away with tail between legs...and some of them turning nasty and taking out their past knockbacks on white lasses - for let's face it, after being rejected, they just see women as women - no matter what colour they are, and so get their kick in first if any future relationships sours to whatever degree
