My cat hates other cat, even baby kittens. My friend brought over his little kitten once, and my cat put the kitten in her mouth!! Is this normal?

ooo, and my cat was a stray and the reason why the people who found her could not keep her is beacuse she was tormenting the other cats who lived in the house.

OK that's just funny, don't feel bad my cat that i just put down (he had cancer) hated every living thing on this planet except people! you have to remember they are more alive in someways then we are and that each cat has their own personality. Mine was hateful towards other cats! when we used to let him outside he would climb in the neighbors window and terrorize there poor cat! needless to say we ended up for his safety and ours making him an indoor cat! Don't be upset with him, he probally just prefers his family (you) and is watching over you guys!

Yes, my cats don't get along most of the time. They've gotten much better though but have a long way to go.
Moses was 2 when we brought Mia home and she was NOT happy about it. She torments Mia to this day. She will walk up to Mia, who is laying on the carpet minding her own business, and then just start bullying her! lol They do play together, which at times is just hysterical.
If your cat is putting a kitten in its mouth, it may be a normal reaction of "parenting" the kitten. MOst cats, when they carry kittens around, bite the scruf of the neck to transport it.

Tortoiseshells are notorious for this! I have a 22 yr old toritie whom I brought into my house at age fifteen. She had always been an outside cat and probably chased many cats out of her territory, plus she had to deal with the passing dogs.
When she came into my house she was very effective with her paws in letting the others cats know she was not to be sniffed or messed with in any way. After seven years she gets along with all the other cats, even letting Sylvie, with whom she shares my bed at night, lick her. Really she will lick Sylvie as Cameo is definitely a dominant cat.
So, yes, it is "normal" in the sense that some cats are that way.
Not normal in the sense that not all cats do it.

Yes, it's normal, some cats are just like that. I have a female who loves kittens but she hates male cats and I have two males which makes life interesting at times. They are three times her size but she doesn't care, she's just lucky they run away from her.

Yes that is normal because you are putting a strange cat/kitten in its territory and may feel jelous being an only cat. so it feels it has to get rid of the thing it is jelous of.
Best of luck

Not really your cat is probably not used to being around other cats so it is acting this way. When I brought another cat home my cat did not like it but now they are playing with each other and having fun!!!!!!

It depends on the cat - mine went into my parents house and took over (made the others hide!) but my sister's cat is really friendly. I think female cats are supposed to be more territorial than males, as well. Is he/she spayed or neutered?

I think it's normal, since cats are very territorial. My fiance' brought her cat to live with me the other day, and my cat has been acting quite aggressively toward the "invader."

My cat Piper gets along with my other cat Hunter but she is very moody and if he gets near her or looks directly at her she hisses and slaps him in the face. But they chase and play with each other. I think your cat is just moody and won't get over that. Some cats are loners.
