What is Asatru?

I asked someone on this personally, and I wanted to see MORE! :) It's very interesting to me. Loki is my patron god and I love the lore I have heard about the others. Could I get a more in depth explanation?

I would avoid it like the plague. Most modern astaru followers are white supremists.
