Look it's easy, the wages of sin is death and no amount can be paid for the life of a man.If you read your bible you will know this.In the laws God gave Moses ;it states, life for life. That is why in the old testament the priest will offer a lamb, goat or bird(life) for the sins of the people(life). This Jesus did on the cross by giving up His life willing for all sinners to have salvation.
He is our high priest and also the blameless lamb.Oh!How great is His love to all mankind.Thank you Jesus.

Because before and maybe yet you were, and are dead in your sinful nature. You are off target. If you shoot a bow and arrow and miss it is called a sin. God is the target in your Salvation and Jesus came to not only tell you that you were of target, but to show you how to find the target and stay on target. As a savior he put in place an avalible tool for continuing to stay on target too. You can simply ask for forgiveness and you automatically are back on target, and God has not only forgiven you, but he has forgotten it completely.

Good question. I'm wondering where the real sacrifice in the act is. If Christians are to be believed, Jesus knew he was God since he was like 11 years old. So how hard is it to make the logical conclusion that, as god, you're not gonna stay dead? He even said he'd be raised up in 3 days! What's temporary pain in comparison to your side "winning the struggle" for the rest of eternity?

"Dying for sins" is such a inane concept. It's juvenile, superstitious and just plain silly.
No one can "die" for anyone else. And no one can take anyone's "sins" (wrongdoings) away.
Doing wrong is not a thing -- it's a non-thing, it's a negative, a void, an emptiness. The only thing that stops a person from doing wrong is gaining the wisdom to know it's wrong.
The only thing that stops a "sin" is enlightenment --- comprehending why it's wrong to to that particular thing. But Christianity began on the premise that people are stupid, and that 'God' isn't much brighter.

The semi-long answer, as I understand it, is that in the Christian version of history and the creation, God required that sacrifices be made to mitigate sins. People sacrificed lambs, goats, and many other things that God apparently found worthy. Then somewhere much later down the road, God became less wrathful and more forgiving. There is a dramatic change between the testaments of the Bible.
As for metaphysics, Jesus is the Avatar of God. In essence, God sacrificed his incarnated self as a symbol to humanity. It's not just that Jesus died, or even that he died horribly at the hands of a terrified empire. It is that he offered himself up to God (who is simultaneously seperate entities and all as one entity) and in plain English said, let me carry everyones' sins for them. Let me take responsibility for everyone else. So, because Jesus has taken responsibility for all of Humanity's failings, we are free to live life and make mistakes without fear. As long as we are truly sorry (or more accurately repentant) for our sins we will still be allowed to share in a wonfderful afterlife.
There are many such sacrifices in various mythologies and other versions of history. Christianity just happens to be quite popular right now. A few other religions don't even have an afterlife in their teachings, but still believe in sacrifice of self. It is a rather core concept that Humanity has struggled with over the centuries.

Well, I certainly hope he died in order to forgive my sins both past, present and future. Now I'm off to commit some more :-) , Seriously, If you believe the general myth, you'll believe anything. It's clearly a faith intended to pick up its clientele from the less intelligent and ill-educated hoi-polloi.

The wages of sin is death. We all deserve to die, because of sin. Jesus was sinless, and yet paid the price for our sins by taking them to the cross and dying, paying the debt in full.

it made the biggest difference in the world, if Jesus didn't die for us, we would be lost, we would be dead in our own sins, the Jews had to sacrifice a Innocent lamb to god, so they would be forgiven of their sins, Jesus came to the earth and lived a perfact life as a human, he was 100 % God and 100% man, it is a hard concept to wrap your mind around. Jesus was blameless, he didn't do anything wrong, but the Jewish leaders, said he was blasphemous and put him to death. because he died, he saved us, he was the lamb, the sacrifice. and because he rose from the dead, he proved that he was God.
