I have just bought a Gamecube console, and now even though I already bought it, I wanna see if i made the right choice. Is a Gamecube better than a Ps2, or is it vice versa? Give me pros and cons and which you think is better. We're talking about games, prices, everything. Thanks.

Thank you for your ideas. I see that PS2 is everyone's most liked game console. there is actually one reason I chose GameCube instead of GameCube. It's the games. See, I'm not that old. I'm 12 years old. I see the PS2 games are a little bit too mature for me right now. I also like the Mario Games it contains.
But I still want to have everyone's opinions. Tell what ever you think is best.
Thank you!

The comparison of Xbox vs Playstation 2 vs Gamecube is ultimately a personal one. Many people say that the Xbox is just a graphically souped-up PC in a squarey box, and technically this is not completely wrong. Others say that Nintendo's Gamecube, like previous video game consoles from Nintendo, is still targeted mostly at pre-teens and does not have many games for more mature players. Fact is, there are games for more mature players, and Nintendo tries to get a piece of the more mature gamers market. This market has been historically captured with Sony's original Playstation and is now very much the main target in the battle of Xbox vs Playstation 2.
What really counts in the end is whether the system can provide fun and longevity. The PS2 has probably the most games and due to its backward compatability with the original Playstation, it automatically has the largest game library. The XBox however is also gearing up to be a system with a great plethora of games for all audiences. Difficult decision? Read on and form your own opinion on the great Xbox vs Gamecube vs PS2 debate
Comparing system specifications Xbox vs Gamecube and Xbox vs PS2, the clear winner is once again the Xbox. Check out the Xbox system specifications. However, this is not the whole story. Some systems come with particular features built-in, while other consoles require you to buy additional items to achieve this functionality. For example, Playstation 2 consoles are able to play DVDs without any additional hardware required. Not so the Xbox - you need to buy the Xbox DVD movie playback kit to view DVDs.
Xbox vs Gamecube vs PS2 - Price Comparison
A last comparison of xbox vs gamecube vs PS2 price puts the Playstation 2 and the more powerful Xbox head-to-head, but the winner here is the Gamecube console, with a retail price of $149.99 compared to the $179.99 of both Xbox and Playstation 2 console. [Update Aug 2004: The Xbox now costs only $149.99!]
The Winner of the console wars is...
Dan Elektro from Gamepro.com wrote...
"Sony, Microsoft, and Nintendo would all have you believe that they are the star this holiday shopping season, but when the numbers get crunched, there can be only one. That one this year is Sony, which, according to NPD sales figures, has sold 1.4 million PS2s this season despite the splashy launches of GameCube and Xbox. Since PlayStation 2 has a bigger brand awareness and more supplies on store shelves, its leadership position matches pretty much everyone's predictions. However, Microsoft isn't far behind, with approximately 934,000 Xbox consoles sold through by early December, and projections to hit 1.5 million by year's end. Despite having the lowest-priced console of the bunch, Nintendo is trailing in terms of units sold, with 615,000 GameCubes. Nintendo, too, will likely spike to between 1.1 million and 1.3 million units sold by the end of the year

PS2 is the system.
PS2 has a library of over 1000 excellent games (when you also take into account it can play older PS1 games as well as PS2 games.
PS2 can be used as a DVD player for any television or even rigged into a car as an entertainment system.
PS2 offers free online internet play with people around the world in over 100 excellent games.
Unlike other systems, PS2 can access the online network using simple dialup modem or can be used with DSL or CABLE for high speed internet play.
The only con of PS2 is that the graphics are slightly less resolution than Gamecube's.
Gamecube's graphics are superior to PS2's, however, the downside is that Gamecube does not have as many spectacular games, the controller is not as comfortable to use and the majority of games made on Gamecube are made for children rather than teens/adults.
Also Gamecube cannot be used as a DVD player unlike PS2 and XBOX.
PS2 costs about $130 and comes with a controller and DVD remote and in many cases, a game to play.
Gamecube costs about $80 - $100 in some places.
PS2 is the best choice.
However, also consider XBOX.
XBOX costs about $150 for the system.
It comes with DVD playing capability, a game, a controller and a trail membership of XBOX Live.
Xbox live is an online game community for XBOX that allows you to play games over DSL or CABLE.
The only downside is that Xbox Live costs $50 a year (not too bad a price) but, unlike PS2, you MUST have DSL or CABLE to use it.
PS2 can be used on a dialup phone line.

PS2! Sure Gamecube has its own little specifications, but PS2 to me has waay better graphics. Great games too, and I think the prices are lower for PS2 games than GameCube. On some of them anyway. I have a PS2 and a PSP and getting the PS3 when it comes out. =D

The problem with the Cube is that many software dealers to not make games for the cube, as it is considered a kids system (Mario, Sonic, Animal Crossing).
PS2 is a good system, but still a limitation in the games (as compated to XBox.)
personally, I go with the cube.

Cons: Lower graphics than Gamecube.
Gamecube: Better graphics, lasts longer ( As if you poured somthing on it or dropped it), and other things

Ooooo good question.
I have both and I prefer my PS2. Why? One, it plays DVDs. Two, it's backwards compatible. And three, the genre of games I like (survivial horror) are dominant on PS2 more so than GC.

A PS2 is much better, without a doubt. The controller is easier to understand and therefore suits my tiny brain much better.
