Yes. Jesus did say that had come to die for the sheep.

John 10:15-18 (NKJV)
As the Father knows Me, even so I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep. [16] And other sheep I have which are not of this fold; them also I must bring, and they will hear My voice; and there will be one flock and one shepherd. [17] Therefore My Father loves Me, because I lay down My life that I may take it again. [18] No one takes it from Me, but I lay it down of Myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This command I have received from My Father."

John the Baptist said Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the SIN of the world.
He did not say SINS and that is because the only sin that has ever been is disobedience to God.Jesus obeyed the Father until the end and that is what he came to do was set an example before man how to obey God.
Believing in his name is the only thing we are to do and in doing that we are given the Holy Spirit to lead and guide us into the truth.Of course most people would rather believe what their Mommy,daddy,preacher or soothsayer says instead of what the WORD of GOD says and never know Jesus or God the Father.If you want scriptures read the books of St. John he makes things clearer than anyone.Jesus to my knowledge did not say he had to die,but he allowed this to happen for the ones that had heard the prophesy of him so they would believe,it was for them.We were brought in because he was rejected by the Jews,and that is through his name.

yes Jesus directly claimed that

he applied the chapter Isaiah 53 to himself
he also said in Mark 8:45 :the son of man has not come to be served but to serve and to give his life as a randsome for others"
he said at the last supper, ;this is my blood poured out for many an refered to a new covenant

additionally John the Baptist announced Jesus was "the lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world' in John

im a ministers daughter, he was sent to enlighten man. God reveals his fate to Jesus when he turns 33 (in the new testament). Jesus wasn't happy about it but accepted his fate, that man was too ignorant to accept wisdom and that he would have to die to be a martyr for the faithful.

personally, i believe that the bible has been manipulated by men in power from its first publishings and distributions. creating a victim/martyr is a key element in manipulating the masses for most of the old religions (islam has muhammed). this is not to say that i dont believe that jesus was a great prophet and teacher, but the bible has been used to the bible and his story to control people and sway their emotions and guilt. thinking someone has died for you, is a very powerful tool of guilt, because everyone values their life and hardly anyone would sacrifice it for a principle.

Yes, He did, but you must go back to the Old Testament to read the most pointed statements. Keep in mind that, prior to Jesus' human incarnation, He was known as "The Word," and was the primary One who dictated the Scriptures to humankind.

Isaiah 53:5 But He was wounded for our transgressions,
He was bruised for our iniquities;
The chastisement for our peace was upon Him,
And by His stripes we are healed.
6 All we like sheep have gone astray;
We have turned, every one, to his own way;
And the LORD has laid on Him the iniquity of us all.

Isaiah 53:8b "For He was cut off from the land of the living; For the transgressions of My people He was stricken."

Why do people not give the answer???

Matt 16:21 From that time on Jesus began to explain to his disciples what would happen to him. He told them he must go to Jerusalem. There he must suffer many things from the elders, the chief priests and the teachers of the law. He must be killed and on the third day rise to life again.

John Chapter 8

34 Jesus answered them, "Most certainly I tell you, everyone who commits sin is the bondservant of sin.

35 A bondservant doesn't live in the house forever. A son remains forever.

36 If therefore the Son makes you free, you will be free indeed.

37 I know that you are Abraham's seed, yet you seek to kill me, because my word finds no place in you.

38 I say the things which I have seen with my Father; and you also do the things which you have seen with your father."

39 They answered him, "Our father is Abraham." Jesus said to them, "If you were Abraham's children, you would do the works of Abraham.

40 But now you seek to kill me, a man who has told you the truth, which I heard from God. Abraham didn't do this.

41 You do the works of your father." They said to him, "We were not born of sexual immorality. We have one Father, God."

42 Therefore Jesus said to them, "If God were your father, you would love me, for I came out and have come from God. For I haven't come of myself, but he sent me.

Mark 10:45 Jesus says, "The Son of Man came not to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."

There it is. Give his life as a ransom for many.

1 Corinthians 15:3

"For what I received I passed on to you as of first importance that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures."

The bible is the word of God given to men by the Holy Spirit so it's not made up.
