Personally, I despise God. But I'm not here to start a riot. All I want is for you to stop it with the "May God so-and-so you and your soul be this-and-that for God has abcdefg..." etc in everyone's face whenever you finish a sentence because, you may not know this but, it feels like an insult. So far I have not said anything that provoked a Christian's belief, but all of you have provoked mine because you, being fully aware that I have absolute no interest in God, carried on stuffing me with God's blessings when you know that I do not want it. For your information, this is quite a disrespectful act, so keep them to your own kind, thank you. :)

Oh boy, look what I started! I was expecting this, though maybe a little less rough. I can see a few gems in there too. Thank you the more mature answers but for the rest...
You have my sincerest apologies. I have a suggestion though... start making good use of your brain. Ever wonder why it's christianity that always causes such a din? Why don't other religions have problems like this?

There's a fine line between "have a nice day" and "God loves you and so-and-so". Personally I would prefer to hear the former, because it does not provoke my own beliefs. See?

I'm sorry that you've had a bad experience with something like that. Being Pagan, I understand what you mean. It is annoying and a bit of an insult too. It's like saying that your belief or whatnot isn't good enough and that you need the Christian god to help you out. Please understand though that I don't think Christian's mean to insult you. They're just giving you their god's blessing, same as when Pagan's say "Blessed Be". It's just a way to say "Have a good life, and may you be watched over". The next time you have someone telling you that, just stop them dead in their tracks and say "I appreciate what you're going to say, but I have no interest in that and I would like it if you accept that". If they're still persistant, then just walk away. If you show that you can be mature about it and politely decline their blessing but they still insist on giving it to you, you have every right to walk away.

Jesus once said to his apostles before they went out to different towns to preach, "If a person doesn't embrace your teachings or listen to you, brush the dust off your feet and move on to the next town."
Jesus was ever so sensitive towards others.....He knew when people were hungry, God loving, sick or lonely. So, as a follower of Christ, I would try to be sensitive towards others' feelings as well. Yet at the same time, I can see where Christians are coming from. They are merely happy to have received their blessings and joy from God and being hospitable people, they merely want to share their joy with you. Perhaps, you aren't easily moved by their words because you believe alot beyond lip-service.
A note for all Christians reading this:
1) Please respect others' opinions and learn to give them the personal space that they need.
2) Preach only to those who are willing to accept Christ...after all, it has been mentioned in the Bible, "Only few will be God's chosen..."
3) Don't forget to wipe the dust off your feet and continue with your generous spirit elsewhere more deserving.

You HAD to know how this would go!
Ignorance doesn't come with a title of Christian or any other. People can just plain be stuuuupid. I respect that you don't want to hear anything about God and blessings, but you open yourself up for this kind of rebuttle with what you say here. (For Christians reading this - It does no good Christians to continue with a person who refuses to hear the gospel. The Lord simply states to knock the dust from your shoes. God will work in this person as their "will" allows. It is our position only to answer questions that they have and to show love. Falling into debates and tit for tats is not showing wisdom). All I can offer you Cantata is that if you have any questions about God...I will try to be here to answer them for you. If not...there is no disrespect from my end of things.
Good luck in all you do.

ALL Christians don't do this. I very rarely end a sentence that way. You certainly shouldn't be insulted by a Christian saying, "God bless you" though. Even though you may not like it, that individual is not trying to harm you, but send you great joy and happiness. It's part of their beliefs to share that with you. It's almost like saying "good luck".

Okay, may you go to hell and burn forever, is that better? If you are right no harm is done. If you are wrong then you can use all the blessings you can get. When is the last time you wished someone well, God or no God. We have plenty of haters, be glad someone wants to bless you even if you don't believe.

God doesn't despise you...do you likewise bite someone's head off if they tell you to 'have a nice day?'or are you only this irrational and grouchy towards Christians? in any event, feel free to ignore it, take offense (and that is a conscious decision on your part), or whatever, but my wishing God to bless you, or not, is not something you can demand...God bless you, and have a nice day!

I am a born-again christian, and my dad is a pastor, so I am very religious, but I do agree with you...that is really a stupid way to talk to a person, esp. one who doesn't believe in God! People seriously need to be a little more reasonable and talk rationally! If you wanna debate then fine...but I can see how that would be very annoying to have people throwing comments like that at you!

No. There's something called 'freedom of speech.' People are allowed to say what they want as long it doesn't call people to violence (and some other minor reasons why not). You will have to ask each person individually to do so. In our hearts, we are wishing you our best. What you are asking us to do is not wish you our best. But if that's how people choose to express themselves, then that's how they do. Don't be insulted, it's for good wishes. Maybe you should change your thought process. You don't have to believe in God, but just take it as they are wishing you to have good things in your life.
