I received a basket of goodies that also had a gift card for my favourite store. Nothing better than getting some money to spend how you want to!!

I did not get this but I make it all of the time when I am invited to a bridal shower. The girls really seem to love it.
Buy a nice good quality large basket with a handle. Try to get one that is lined. Add to the basket a nice set of dishes and silverware for 2, some candles, pretty candle holders, a bottle of champagne, a pretty tablecloth and matching napkins. Maybe even add a gift certificate to a gourmet food store. It is lovely to take on a romantic picnic, especially when the couple is first married.

I just got married in June and we'd been living together for awhile and had all the typical shower gifts. We registered for some things that we wanted but the best things that we got were certificates to places like Linen's N Things and Home Depot (we're building a house!) It was nice because now we can go pick out what we want. The BEST thing I got that was really just for me was a certificate to a day spa, the certificate is only $25 but it's enough to at least motivate me to go! Think about if you want to get a gift for the couple or if you'd rather get something more for just the bride. Either way, a certificate is nice because they/she can use it how they want! Good luck!

It seems a lot of people think money is tacky. I think it all depends. I got married last year, I was 47 and my husband was 37 - first marriage for each of us so we didn't need much in the way of household stuff. As we don't have much money - the monitary gifts we recieved both as shower gifts and wedding gifts gave us a wonderful honeymoon we never could have afforded otherwise. A lot of people gave us money in something - like a decorative basket or along with a candle or wedding related knick knack or dish. Very nice. It really depends upon the specific situation for the bride and her husband to be.

Hi, I haven't had my shower yet but I know I would love to receive the one important thing and that is a streamcleaner. I think you should talk to the bride and find out what is one thing she really wants off the registry and get it. I don't agree with the gift certificate for a restaurant on a honeymoon since most honeymoon packages now in days are all exclusive and thats what most brides go for. You can also a more expensive item that she has on the registry. But I think you should talk to her to find out what she wants the most.

The best gift that I got was a basket of ALL kinds of goodies. Lotions, face masks, loofa's, linen sprays. And it wasn't just a Bath & Body works type of basket. It was a homemade one! Made it more special. I also found a gift card for MAC in there which I need for the wedding day. It was awesome!! And smelled really good!! All the girls were drooling over it. :)

if you are close to her give her something special you know she will really like. EX: i am throwing a shower next month, and since i know the bride really well, i knew that she would want to scrapbook her wedding, and so i got her all sorts of wedding themed scrapbooking things.

if you aren't so close to the bride, then you should probably go with something on her registry. there is a reason she registered for the stuff.

you could also give money, but personally, i think it's tacky. they only people that i know that ever give money are men.... enough said.

One of the best things a got was a big bag full of all kinds of useful things that you'll need around a house once you get married...it had things like Kleenex, hangers, floor cleaner, window cleaner, toilet paper, a devotional book, some bowls and cups, a kitchen towel, and other various stuff like that. It was so perfect...I didn't have to worry about that kind of stuff right away after we got married.

Money is always great!

If you don't want to do that you could buy a gift certificate to a restaurant where they are taking their honeymoon. Dinner would be a nice treat for the couple.
