Im a teen parent and I was wondering how will I go about getting child support. The dad of course denys the baby, which is a typical thing, but I would like to also go about getting a dna test. Can someone please help because my baby is going on 2 and I would like her to at least know who her father is. Please help.

You need to go to chil services for the child support...and explain to them that you don't have a huge amout of money for a dna test...you could go on the Maury Povich show??

Child support law was written long before DNA tests. All that the law requires is that you state he is the father. According to the law, the child is actually making the claim of abandonment, you are the whiteness to "who the father is".

Through a lawyer or child services file a claim for child support in the name of your child. The father will have to either pay child support outright or he'll have to ask for and pay for a DNA test. Let the law work for you and your child.

Well, there are many reality television shows you can go on to get a DNA test, like Maury. If you want a private DNA test and don't want to show the world that the father denys your baby, I'd ask your doctor for a DNA test.

Contact your local child support office and let them know u want to file for a petition to open a child support case. They will guide you to the right department to file the paperwork-

In NJ, u gotta go to to family court- and the DNA test (done through the courts) will be $135 which will be added to the support order (the father will pay for it, NOT you)

You dont even have to request the DNA test, once he is called to go to the child support initial hearing he will probably request it anyway and it will be done at a later time.

I don't know where you live but in Texas one contacts the Texas State Attorney General's office child support division. The service is free to custodial parents. They will first determine paternity (if the baby isn't his the state will pay the fee, if the baby is his then he's required to pay the fee) Once paternity is determined then child support/health care support is decided upon. If after that the father doesn't pay he will have to return to court and and can possibly face jail time. Don't wait in contacting your state's AG office. You need to get this process started as soon as possible. Your child deserves it. If you hire an attorney they will charge you thousands of dollars and will get you nowhere because enforcing the father to pay after a judgement has geen filed requires you to continue to pay the attorney each time you have to go back to court. I didn't need to determine paternity (I divorced my children's father) but I did use an attorney at first. It defeats the purpose because you're spending all your money trying to get money. Doesn't make sense.

Welcome to the Federal
Office of Child Support Enforcement

Office Of The Attorney General (Of your State)

If you have applied for Welfare (TANF) or Medicaid, then you may already have filed for child support. If not, try to go to your local Department of Human Services and apply for Food Stamps, Welfare (TANF) and/or Medicaid, they will give you a form to fill out for the absent parent.

If the father is known, he can be made to pay for the DNA test and he can be made to submit to the test as well. The state you live in should provide counselling and advice on the matter.

I had the same difficulty with the DNA after I did it, my daughter lived in the US and that i wasn't constructive how i'd get her samples yet in case you call a DNA checking out organization they could organise it in touch by you - they deliver a DNA attempt to each and each of the human beings who opt to take area in the try and then the human beings in touch might want to all deliver back their samples back for checking out. in any case, good luck with each thing :)
