political correctness has covered them up. No longer can one say what they feel with out "hurting someones, or groups feelings". So if one speaks of patriotism and american values, then arab americans, or mexican americans, or african americans or candian americans, or iraqi americans or (put any other country here) americans ***** and whine and won't vote for this politician or will cause a big stink.

If all of the American citizens would drop the preceeding name from American, and truely become Americans then much of this could be changed.

But then this is just one Americans opinion!

People would have to support the WAR like they did the others... Nazism, etc... were bigger moral issues to people than oil and getting in the middle of another countries battles... Plenty of people you might not think support the SOLDIERS on a non-fad basis... Just not who you think... The people pushing to bring them home do support them- they want them to live to be with their families... Peace!!!

Ray,
My father retired from the Army...that makes me an Army "brat". I never went to a public school until I was 15....I was appalled at the attitude of the school kids about the Ft. Hood soldiers. I would come home crying all the time because I could not understand why they called them such horrible names. These boys were fighting for our country (Vietnam). As soon as I was out of school I married a boy who grew up from that town and guess what! He was going to be drafted! His father raced around until he found a place where his son could get in to the "National Guard". He served his time of 6 years in an airborne outfit but never was called to go to Nam. What I'm trying to tell you is that our country never supported those boys in Vietnam so I want you to really read your papers and watch t.v. We are supporting these boys and I understand where you are coming from. In WWI, WWII, and the Korean war you probably read in your history books how our country REALLY welcomed our men home. I do believe that this war going on right NOW is going to be the MOTHER of them all...so hold on to your seat and enlist if you are a true American and suggest to your pals to do the same.....GOD BLESS AMERICA.

Our government lets protester burn flags, The pledge of allegiance has been out of our public school for years. There still many of us who still believe in America and its values. I served 2 years in the U. S. Army back in 1971 to1973. So my patriotism is slightly higher than the average American. You have to give to your country to really respect it and care for it.

I think you are confusing loyalty with patriotism. I see that most people in the USA have always supported our troops; right or wrong; win or lose... There is also also a fallacy that if we reject a deep dark political agenda that we do not support our troops... Do not make the mistake of tying the two together...

We as a people have become so "self" centered.. it's all about me me me.. if I don't like how things are worded in this country, I will change them.. it goes against what I want to hear. If I don't like to speak English, I will have that changed as well.. I want I want I want.. No one thinks of themselves as Americans anymore. They say: french American - africian American - and so on.. They seem to think that makes them more..unique. We are all unique..just like everyone else. My roots stem from other countries, but I am AMERICAN! PERIOD!!
We've lost who we are as a people, by bending over, and kissing a**..of those of our people, who continue to cry like little children, rather than become part of the family.. UNITED states of America.

Vietnam Vets were spit on, and shunned.. we made sure our sons, when they came home from the Gulf War, were celebrated.. We will do the same with those who return home from this war.. and the next, and so on.

America is decaying into despotism and although people refuse to admit it deep down they know it.

Once you were an idealistic nation, founding fathers, american dream, true pioneers, now you are the most powerful nation in the World and are using your power to steal from others and murder them when they don't like it - kind of like a dangerous mugger - who can cheer for that?

Many confuse patriotism with nationalism. Patriotism is love of country, while nationalism is allegiance to government. I love my country yet despise my government. America is great. The U.S. government is a traitor to America and our Constitution and its founding values.

Whether or not we will ever enjoy a lawful government again remains to be seen, but it does not look good.

Fad? What are you smoking? If people are supporting our soldiers because it is fad then bring them all home.

Destroyed by G.W.Bush. It's hard to support a war that doesn't accomplish anything and was started for the wrong reasons. It's especially hard to watch kids dying everyday for this.
