To native English speakers: could you please explain me what does it mean - "going places"? I am not a native speaker so I cannot figure it out. Does it mean "to travel around" or "to expand", "to grow", "to be successful"? Thank you very much in advance.

Many thanks for the answers. It really helps a lot!
To Dala C: I had a notion of the meaning, however, I was not sure if I am right. Also, the context where the prase is used did not help me much... :-)

Going places means being on the right path to be successful in life or business. Like: "Amy opened a new hair salon that really took off. It's really going places."

It can have several similar meanings depending on the context in which it's used. The literal meaning is traveling to different places, but you rarely see it used literally.

You actually know the answer without even knowing it. When a person is "going places" it means that they are on their way to success. Example: The boss liked Sheila's ideas, that girl is really going places. I hope this helps.
