Are they out-of-control alcoholics who can't stay sober long enough to visit with their grandchildren or is it that you don't approve of their drinking?

A lot of us come from dysfunctional families, but I think you're promoting your own if you keep your parents away from your kids unless they can't sober up for a few hours. No relatives on the father's side?

Maybe you should get more involved with your neighbors and community. You may not find grandparents, but perhaps you'll find friends of all ages that can act as role models for your children.

It's sad that families all over are splintered, do the best you can. I wish you well.

Maybe you have elderlypeople in your neighborhood that don't have grandkids and could fill in, or someone from a church or if u have a seniors citizens place maybe they could help. Are your parents not willing to not drink just so they can see thier grandkids. I feel for you. I always want to do right by my kids and when thier are alot of complications it gets so hard. But the good thing is that you obviously love them very much. You might also try talking to the school counselor. There are lot of elderly people who don't have grandkids or who live to far from them. Good luck

That is very sad.

I don't remember all the details now, but I seem to remember hearing about an organization that would match up older people with kids as 'grandparents', sort of like Big Brothers and Big Sisters. Run a google search and see what you can find.

Good luck!

Unfortunately we can't just go and find family for our children ! You as a mother have to provide the love and nurturing that they need. It's sad that they don't have grandparents but their not the only children in the world without them. If you have close friends then bring them into your children's lives as relatives. Life is too short to hang yourself over little things in life. As long as your children have you that's all that matters ! Take Care

Call any local senior citizen centers and retirement communities and ask if there are any people there who have no family. Older people tend to be lonely and would love the company.

Call the local senior citizen center and ask about it. Many of the elders there are lonely and would love the company of your two little girls.

check out local seior organizations in your area - or a seniors lodge - i'm sure you'll find a suitable adoptive grandparent as there are many lonely older people out there.
