Martin Luther was not the first person to claim that the pope is the anti-Christ. John Wycliffe came to the same conclusion some 200 years before Luther did. Unlike Luther, Wycliffe had everything to loose and nothing to gain from proclaiming this, but he did it anyway because that is what he believed. Let us examine the facts.
What is the beast (the anti-Christ)? It is a religious power that rises out of Europe after the fall of Rome (and 3 of the tribes of the fallen empire are taken out) that acts as sovereign nation. It has much wealth and wants to change the laws of God.
"And the ten horns out of this kingdom are ten kings that shall arise: and another shall rise after them; and he shall be diverse from the first, and he shall subdue three kings. And he shall speak great words against the most High, and shall wear out the saints of the most High, and think to change times and laws: and they shall be given into his hand until a time and times and the dividing of time. “(Daniel 7:24 - 25 KJV)
The history of Europe settles the matter. There were 10 kingdoms that formed directly after the fall of Rome. After three kingdoms were taken out (the Vandals, Lombards, and Huns), the "Bishop of Rome" rose to power and formed what we now know as the Roman Catholic Church and this position is now known as the pope. With this power, the pope has changed God's times and laws. Many Christians no longer observe the Sabbath (God's time and God’s law) because the pope has instituted Sunday worship; the Roman Catechism even has a different set of Ten Commandments in it than the Bible's. It is also obvious that this kingdom represented by the little horn is different from all the others. The Vatican is a nation that has great wealth (the little horn wares an expensive crown earlier in Daniel chapter 7) but is very small (like a little horn among big ones) and is wholly ruled by a religious leader unlike any other nation in Europe today. The Vatican is a nation because the USA has an ambassador to the Vatican.
There are even more clues to point to the papal system as being the anti-Christ.
"And I saw one of his heads as it were wounded to death; and his deadly wound was healed: and all the world wondered after the beast." (Revelation 13:3 KJV)
The pope was taken out of power and made prisoner (wounded) in 1798 by Napoleon. But, the pope was miraculously healed from his deadly wound in 1929, by Premier Mussolini if Italy who gave the pope all his power back!
The whole world has wondered after the pope. Just look at everyone that attended the funeral of the late John Paul II - leaders of almost every nation in the world!
Also, we find this of the anti-Christ. " And there was given unto him a mouth speaking great things and blasphemies; and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months. And he opened his mouth in blasphemy against God, to blaspheme his name, and his tabernacle, and them that dwell in heaven. (Revelation 13:5 - 6 KJV)
What is blasphemy? "The act of claiming for oneself the attributes and rights of God." (American Heritage Dictionary)
Does the pope blaspheme?
"Against this background of love towards Holy Church, 'the pillar and bulwark of the truth' (1 Tim 3:15), we readily understand the devotion of Saint Francis of Assisi for 'the Lord Pope', the daughterly outspokenness of Saint Catherine of Siena towards the one whom she called 'sweet Christ on earth'" (Pope John Paul II, Apostolic Exhortation VITA CONSECRATA, (On The Consecrated Life And Its Mission In The Church And In The World), March 25, 1996.)
"The Pope is of so great dignity, and so exalted that he is not a mere man, but as it were God. and the vicar of God." (Ferraris Ecclesiastical dictionary)
"All names which in the Scriptures are applied to Christ, by virtue of which it is established that He is over the church, all the same names are applied to the Pope." (On the Authority of the Councils, book 2, chapter 17)
"The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in Heaven and earth." (Pope Pius V, quoted in Barclay, Chapter XXVII, p. 218, "Cities Petrus Bertanous")
""To believe that our Lord God the Pope has not the power to decree as he is decreed, is to be deemed heretical." (the Gloss "Extravagantes" o.f Pope John XXII *** inter, Tit. XIV, Cap. IV. Ad Callem Sexti Decretalium, Paris, 1685)
I would say he dose! The pope also claimes to be able to forgive sins. The bible clearly says that this is blasphamy.
"Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?" (Mark 2:7 KJV)
I think the papal system matches up with the anti-Christ too much to be a coincidence.

Most of the descriptions of the Antichrist are found in Daniel 7, in parts of the Gospels, and Revelation 13, though smatterings are found elsewhere in the Bible. Although I don't have time to look up every verse, here's a few cut and pasted verses from sites dealing with it (note, some may be repeats), as well as a few verses I picked out.
The Antichrist - (View a comparison of Daniel 7 and Revelation 13)
• The Antichrist comes after a falling away or apostasy. (2 Thessalonians 2:3)
- At times forbids marriage (1 Timothy 4:3)
- At times commands not to eat certain foods that God says are ok to eat. (1 Timothy 4:3-5)
- Has other teachings that are devilish (1 Timothy 4:1; Acts 8:20; 1 John 3:8, 4)
• The Antichrist is revealed before the second coming of Jesus. (2 Thessalonians 2:1-3)
• The Antichrist has a visible leader. (Acts 20:30; 2 Thessalonians 2:4; Daniel 7:8)
• The Antichrist comes from within the church. (Acts 20:30; 2 Thessalonians 2:4)
• and then takes up residence in the church (2 Thessalonians 2:4)
• The Antichrist rules for a long period of time. (Revelation 13:5, 12:6, 12:14; Daniel 7:25)
• The Antichrist receives its power from the Devil. (Revelation 13:2; Revelation 12:9)
• The Antichrist blasphemes God. (Revelation 13:5-6; Daniel 7:8,20,25)
• The Antichrist tries to change God's law. (Daniel 7:25)
• The Antichrist persecutes the people who keep God's law. (Revelation 13:2, 12:17, 14:12; Daniel 7:21)
• The persecution diminishes prior to the end of the Antichrist's rule. (Matthew 24:22)
• The Antichrist's long rule comes to an end. (Revelation 13:3)
• The Antichrist again regains power and prestige. (Revelation 13:3)
• The Antichrist deceives people around the world into worshipping it. (Revelation 13:3)
• Another forces people to worship the Antichrist. (Revelation 13:11-12)
• Miracles are used to deceive people into worshipping the Antichrist. (Revelation 13:13-14)
• Some resist the authority of the Antichrist so economic sanctions are then used. (Revelation 13:16)
• Some people still resist and a death decree is brought against them. (Revelation 13:15)
• The Antichrist has a mark of authority that must be avoided at all costs. (Revelation 13:16-17, 14:9-10)
He will suffer a seemingly fatal head wound, yet it'll be healed, and the whole world will marvel at it. (Rev. 13:3)
The term antichrist is only found in the epistles of John (1 John 2:18,22; 4:3; 2 John 7).
Paul does not use the term "antichrist." Instead, he uses the term "man of lawlessness" in 2 Thess. 2:3 to describe an evil person who will stand in great opposition to God and His people. Paul speaks regarding the Day of the Lord...
There are Old Testament references to the antichrist, though the terms "antichrist" and "man of lawlessness" are not used. Instead, "the little horn" and "worthless shepherd" are used as they prophecy his arrival.
From the Zechariah passage and the one found in Rev. 13:2-3, some theologians believe that the antichrist will suffer a head wound that will be fatal. But, like the devil who imitates the truth in order to deceive, the antichrist will rise from the dead. His resurrection will be assisted by Satan. However, he will retain his wounds. His right arm will be withered and he will be blind in his right eye. --Note, it might not necessarily be a literal miracle. In this day and age, a medical miracle might do just as well.
The term "antichrist" is also used to describe a spiritual condition. In other words, it is descriptive of those people who oppose the true God.
In 1 John 4:3 John says that all who do not confess Jesus are of the spirit of the antichrist...
Is part of an 'unholy trinity' (so to speak), consisting of Satan, the Antichrist, and the False Prophet, with the Antichrist acting on behalf of Satan, and is evidenced by the False Prophet (Rev. 13:2, 12:9, 19:20, [their 'unity' evidenced by 16:13]) (kind of like a mockery of the Trinity... how Christ works on behalf of God, and the Holy Spirit indwells in believers giving evidence of Christ)

Your best bet, however, would be to look in the Bible itself. ^_~ Every time you come across a verse about the antichrist, or even a type/shadow of the antichrist, write it down.

Someone else doesn't like the rude, sarcastic, and ignorant answers given? Wow - I thought I was alone.
What would you like to know about the Anti-Christ (or enemy of Christ)? In the Bible, Jesus speaks of "false Christs" as persons who will appear in the period before the end of time. These people will use their powers to show-off and prove that they were sent by God, when they are in fact, leading others away from God. The "Antichrist" is like these "false Christs", except he may require people to worship him as if he were a god. You may want to read Revelation 13, 2 John 7, 1 John 2:18-20, 1 John 4:4, Revelation 19:20, and 2 Thessalonians 2:3 in the Bible.

"For many deceivers have gone out into the world, those who don't confess that Jesus Christ came in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the Antichrist." (2 John 1:7)
"Little children, these are the end times, and as you heard that the Antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have arisen. By this we know that it is the final hour. They went out from us, but they didn't belong to us; for if they had belonged to us, they would have continued with us. But they left, that they might be revealed that none of them belong to us. You have an anointing from the Holy One, and you all have knowledge. I have not written to you because you don't know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth. Who is the liar but he who denies that Jesus is the Christ? This is the Antichrist, he who denies the Father and the Son. Whoever denies the Son, the same doesn't have the Father. He who confesses the Son has the Father also. Therefore, as for you, let that remain in you which you heard from the beginning. If that which you heard from the beginning remains in you, you also will remain in the Son, and in the Father. This is the promise which he promised us, the eternal life. These things I have written to you concerning those who would lead you astray." (1 John 2:18-26)

Don't forget: returning rudeness for rudeness only begets more rudeness.
That said, most of the information the Bible has on the Anti-Christ is contained in the Revelation, which is very easy to find because it's the last book in the Bible. If you want more specific info, you can use an on-line concordance to find the specific verses that speak of this person. Google "on-line concordance" and then go from there.

Good question.
Antichrist means against or instead of Christ. The term applies to all who deny what the Bible says about Jesus Christ, all who oppose his Kingdom, and all who mistreat his followers. It also includes individuals, organizations, and nations that falsely claim to represent Christ or that improperly ascribe to themselves the role of Messiah.
Does the Bible refer to only one antichrist?
1 John 2:18: “Young children, it is the last hour, and, just as you have heard that antichrist is coming, even now there have come to be many antichrists; from which fact we gain the knowledge that it is the last hour.”
2 John 7: “Many deceivers have gone forth into the world, persons not confessing Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh. This is the deceiver and the antichrist.” (Notice that the “many antichrists” of 1 John 2:18 are here referred to collectively as “the antichrist.”)
Is the coming of the antichrist reserved for some future time?
1 John 4:3: “Every inspired expression that does not confess Jesus does not originate with God. Furthermore, this is the antichrist’s inspired expression which you have heard was coming, and now it is already in the world.” (That was written near the end of the first century C.E.)
1 John 2:18: “Even now there have come to be many antichrists; from which fact we gain the knowledge that it is the last hour.” (By “last hour” John evidently meant the end of the apostolic period. The other apostles had died, and John himself was very old.)
Some of those identified as antichrist—
Persons who deny that Jesus is truly the Messiah
1 John 2:22: “Who is the liar if it is not the one that denies that Jesus is the Christ [or, Messiah, anointed one]? This is the antichrist.”
All who deny that Jesus is the unique Son of God
1 John 2:22: “This is the antichrist, the one that denies the Father and the Son.”
Compare John 10:36; Luke 9:35.
Apostates
1 John 2:18, 19: “There have come to be many antichrists . . . They went out from us, but they were not of our sort.”
Those who oppose Christ’s true followers
John 15:20, 21: “If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you also . . . But they will do all these things against you on account of my name.”
Individuals and nations that oppose Christ as King or that themselves falsely claim the Messianic role
Ps. 2:2: “The kings of earth take their stand and high officials themselves have massed together as one against Jehovah and against his anointed one [Christ, or Messiah].”
See also Revelation 17:3, 12-14; 19:11-21.
Matt. 24:24: “False Christs and false prophets will arise and will give great signs and wonders so as to mislead, if possible, even the chosen ones.”

From my study of the Bible, this is what I have come to believe about the antichrist. This word means “against (or instead of) Christ.” Therefore, it would include more than just one person.
Denial of Jesus as the Christ and as the Son of God of necessity embraces the denial of any or all of the Scriptural teachings concerning him: his origin, his place in God’s arrangement, his fulfillment of the prophecies in the Hebrew Scriptures as the promised Messiah, his ministry and teachings and prophecies, as well as any opposition to or efforts to replace him in his position as God’s appointed High Priest and King. This is evident from other texts, which, while not using the term “antichrist,” express essentially the same idea. Thus, Jesus stated: “He that is not on my side is against me, and he that does not gather with me scatters.” (Lu 11:23) Second John 7 shows that such ones might act as deceivers, and hence the “antichrist” would include those who are “false Christs” and “false prophets,” as well as those who perform powerful works in Jesus’ name and yet are classed by him as “workers of lawlessness.”—Mt 24:24; 7:15, 22, 23.
I hope this helps in your understanding of the antichrist as well.

This is a serious question. I will try to answer you honestly as I can. The "anti-christ" is very religious. The anti-christ spirit that is here even now is "so close it would deceive the very elected if it were possible"*. (The elected CANNOT be deceived, thank God!)
As far as "who" is the Anti-Christ, as I said, it is very religious. Read Revelation 17. I pray that God will reveal the Truth to you on this matter.

1 John 2:18
Dear children, this is the last hour; and as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come. This is how we know it is the last hour.
1 John 2:22
Who is the liar? It is the man who denies that Jesus is the Christ. Such a man is the antichrist-he denies the Father and the Son.
1 John 4:3
but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.
2 John 7
Many deceivers, who do not acknowledge Jesus Christ as coming in the flesh, have gone out into the world. Any such person is the deceiver and the antichrist.
2 Thess 2:3
Don't let anyone deceive you in any way, for that day will not come until the rebellion occurs and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the man doomed to destruction.
Matt 24:24-27
For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and miracles to deceive even the elect-if that were possible. See, I have told you ahead of time. "So if anyone tells you, 'There he is, out in the desert,' do not go out; or, 'Here he is, in the inner rooms,' do not believe it.
Rev 13:1-8
And the dragon stood on the shore of the sea.
And I saw a beast coming out of the sea. He had ten horns and seven heads, with ten crowns on his horns, and on each head a blasphemous name. The beast I saw resembled a leopard, but had feet like those of a bear and a mouth like that of a lion. The dragon gave the beast his power and his throne and great authority. One of the heads of the beast seemed to have had a fatal wound, but the fatal wound had been healed. The whole world was astonished and followed the beast. Men worshiped the dragon because he had given authority to the beast, and they also worshiped the beast and asked, "Who is like the beast? Who can make war against him?"
The beast was given a mouth to utter proud words and blasphemies and to exercise his authority for forty-two months. He opened his mouth to blaspheme God, and to slander his name and his dwelling place and those who live in heaven. He was given power to make war against the saints and to conquer them. And he was given authority over every tribe, people, language and nation. All inhabitants of the earth will worship the beast-all whose names have not been written in the book of life belonging to the Lamb that was slain from the creation of the world.
ANTICHRIST
Meaning. The Gk. preposition anti in composition sometimes denotes substitution, taking the place of another; hence, "false Christ." The connection in which the word is used appears to import opposition, covert rather than avowed, with a professed friendliness.
Antichrists. John seems to make a distinction between "antichrist" and "antichrists" (1 John 2:18), for he declares that "even now many antichrists have arisen," but "that antichrist is coming." An antichrist is one who opposes Christ, whether he opposes the doctrine of His deity or His humanity; or whether he sets himself against Him in respect to His priestly office, by substituting other methods of atoning for sin and finding acceptance with God; His kingly office, by claiming authority to exact laws in His church contrary to His laws or to dispense with His commandments; or His prophetical office, by claiming authority to add to, alter, or take away from the revelation that He has given in His holy Word. This is agreeable to the description of an antichrist (2:22; 4:3; 1:7). In a general sense an antichrist is a person who is opposed to the authority of Christ as head of the church and creation.
The Antichrist. From early times the opinion has prevailed that the antichrists referred to were the forerunners of an evil rather than the evil itself. Some individual would arise who, by way of eminence, would be fitly called the Antichrist; and who, before being destroyed by Christ, would utter horrid blasphemies against the Most High and practice great enormities upon the saints. This view is scriptural and came from connecting the passages in John's epistles with the descriptions in Daniel and the Apocalypse of the great God-opposing power that would persecute the saints of the Most High; and of the apostle Paul's "man of lawlessness" (2 Thess 2:3-10).
See also our Lord's own prediction respecting the last age of the world (Matt 24:24) and the description of such an Antichrist (Rev 13:1-8).
Identification. Early Christians looked for Antichrist as a person and not a polity or system. The general opinion of those who closely followed the Scriptures was that he would be a man in whom Satan would dwell utterly and bodily, and who would be armed with satanic and demonic powers. In the OT he is prefigured under the "king of Babylon" (Isa 14:4); the little "horn" (Dan 7:8; 8:9); the king "insolent and skilled in intrigue" (8:23); "the prince who is to come" (9:26); the willful king (11:36). In the NT he is called "the man of lawlessness," "the son of destruction" (2 Thess 2:3-8); "antichrist" (1 John 2:18); and "the beast" (Rev 13:1-10). This sinister, demon-inspired leader will rise to dominate the world in the end-time, persecute the saints, seek to destroy the Jew and banish the name of God and His Christ from the earth, and thus take over. This would mean the thwarting of God's plan for the messianic millennial kingdom, which involves the restoration of Israel (Acts 1:6) and universal peace. He is destroyed by the second advent of Christ (Rev 19:11-16), who sets up the earthly kingdom (Rev 20:1-3). This is the premillennial view. Amillennialism rejects an earthly kingdom in favor of Christ's ushering in the eternal state, rather than His establishing another era in time. Views that identify the Antichrist with Muhammad (Innocent III in 1213) or with the papal church (Protestantism) can scarcely be called scriptural.
