Pro-life people inconsistent, and not really pro-life, because although they oppose abortion, they don't oppose capital punishment or the killing of animals, right?

How astute! Yes, this inconsistency is a major problem in the Catholic Church as well. Imagine what it is like for me (as a priest) to inform the parish of this diachotomy. I teach them that if they believe in protecting and preserving the life of an unborn child, the life of a baby seal, then you must have that same sincerity, desire, and zeal in protecting and preserving the life of Charles Manson, any child molester, abusive men and women, pimps, prostitutes, the homeless, the retarded and deaf, the aged, etc. etc.
As Cardinal Bernadine (God rest his soul) taught us, "if you want to change the world, then you must have consistent ethics." However, it is difficult for some to adopt and adapt to that. Still, I am patient and will for ever teach this to my congregation.
Thank you for being so observant and honest. May the Lord bless and keep you. May He let the light of His face shine upon you.
God's and your beast of burden

Pro-life is a designation, but my first and foremost stand is Christian, and that's the bottom line. I choose to abide by the law which means I am not "for" capital punishment but rather I choose to follow the law, which does invoke it in some cases. I oppose killing of animals but government has put pounds in our cities with the strict guidelines for euthanasia. I oppose abortion, but our government still allows it in certain situations. It does not mean I don't care, but I know the times we are living in and I choose to focus my thoughts on the road ahead of us, where we will be when everything comes to an end and the world as we know it changes. I have said before here and I will say again, I would gladly take a child into my home and raise it without thinking a second thought. I have adopted before and I would adopt again. I think there are too many families out there who really seek children of their own and pro-life is what we all should be, no matter the situation involved with the pregnancy. Prayers =)

That's a very stupid remark. The only reason people are called pro-chioce and pro-life is beacuse NOBODY wants to be anti-choice or anti-life and the alternative would be pro-death. Also if your Catholic you know animals don't have souls so it doesn't matter. I for one have never understood why we say we should treat something "humanely" when it isn't human. I personally am not catholic, still eat animals and think abortion is wrong, but just the same feel that I am right. Its about having the right to your own beliefs and choices, while I may think the woman already made her choice when she decided to have sex someone else may not. I also feel that a man should have a choice, I think its wrong for a woman to have an abortion if the man wants the baby, except in the case of rape or incest, a person who sleeps around may disagree..

Questions like this is why some animals eat their young. Not all pro-life people support capital punishment or the killing of animals. Nice generalization though.

I don't know what Pro-lifers you have encountered however, I am pro-life and I am consistent across the board. I oppose the unnecessary killing of any human or animal.

Since both abortion and capital punishment fall under "the unnecessary killing of a human", I am vehemently opposed.

While there's LIFE, there's HOPE.

I think you are confused, and mean Pro-Choice. A person can be Pro-Choice and still be against capital punishment and killing animals. Pro-life means Pro-life for all life. Pro-Choice is a Civil Liberties issue where the government tries to dictate another person's use of their body. Would you want to be forced to have a child when the father of that child raped you? It should be your choice, not the governments.

In capital punishment cases, the person had did something to warrant the death sentence. As for the animals, that is what God put them here for. Get a life, or at least get your facts straight. The aborted baby has done nothing wrong, and has no say in the matter and is utterly defensless.

Well.... I guess this is true.

They really aren't pro life because they confuse breathing with living... they confuse a horrible miserable being alive, with having the ability to have a optimal/normal life life the vast majority of people have. These pro-life people must don't even have funerals for the countless natural abortions that occur as part of the human reproduction process.... they probably don't even know about natural abortions. Not to mention that living human eggs and sperm die and are new counted as loss of human life by the pro-lifers.

They're people that want to interject themselves into the lives of others.

If you don't want an abortion, don't have one. Period.

Generalizations are never correct. I am pro-life and anti-capital punishment. What I have never understood are the people who are pro-abortion and against capital punishment. Is is okay to take an innocent life but wrong to take a guilty one? Or, is it because the baby who is aborted can't speak for himself and the convicted person can?

Actually, many people who are against abortion are also against capital punishment. I am one of them.

The killing of animals is a separate issue. We are talking about human life here.

If some pro-life people are inconsistent (anti-abortion, pro death penalty), then the same can also be said for many pro-abortion people.

After all, many pro-abortion people are against the death penalty. They think it's wrong to execute cold-blooded murderers, but it's perfectly fine to kill innocent unborn babies.

So, there's plenty of inconsistency on BOTH sides of the fence.

The thing is there are UNSPOKEN parts to the words PRO-LIFE first off it is assumed that we mean HUMAN life and not animal life because if we were to go with your meaning then we would not be able to eat (because we would also not be able to kill vegetables either) and then we would all die so obviously we need to kill something to survive.

As far as capital punishment goes that is another story. First off many pro lifers are ANTI capital punishment. For those that are for it they have other thoughts on it mostly to do with the concept of INNOCENCE. (this is another unspoken assumption in the words pro-life.) so we could say PRO INNOCENT HUMAN LIFE but that takes to long so we just say PRO LIFE.

Do you think we could say the PRO CHOICE people are not really pro choice because they wont choose not to have sex over killing thier children?
