It's not awful. People shouldn't be so insensitve to answer like that. 140 lbs for anyone 5'0" is fine, it means you're not about to dry up and blow away. An 11 year old will be getting taller and as long as she maintains 140 lbs and try not to go over depending on the heigth, she will be fine.

If it makes you feel better, my 11 year old daughter is 5'3" and weighs a lot more than that. She was born prematurely and I made up for it plus some when she was a baby and toddler. She has endured a lot of ridicule from mean kids at school and insensitive adults. It's been hard but I have tried to help her not have a negative self image because of her size. She knows she's overweight and it's a struggle we deal with everyday. I know she will be getting taller and will grow into her weight and as she gets older she will be more responsible with her eating habits. She plays softball and is a cheerleader. If anyone has a problem with her size we let it be their problem not ours because we are dealing with it the way we feel we should. It hurts but we get over it. She is beautiful and very outgoing, not something you would expect from a girl who has had to put up with society's prejudices against overweight people. She is just a child but has endured so much and I am so proud of her. When she does turn into a tall slender teenager and adult, she will not only be the most beautiful girl on the outside, she will also be beautiful on the inside.

For an 11 yr old kid that is not good health wise, even for an adult 140 at 5 0" is a bit overweight. She will potentially be obese when she grows up. Better to change into a healthier lifestyle now by doing more outdoor stuff and sports. Sorry for sounding mean, but that is alarming.

Yes ma am' the average weight of an 11 year old is between 85 male 87 female to 92 male 94 female same height 5'0. So to think of an 11 year old weighing 140 is an obesit child and will definitely need to seek a nutritionist and a dietitian.

you base weight on height. for someone who is 5 foot they should weigh from about 100-125 pounds max. and an 11 year old should be getting more exercise then she is probably getting. she should be having a gym class, and doing other outside activities on a regular basis. such as walking, riding bikes, jumping rope, things like that. she is still young enough to influence. so try and get her into a healthy life style now. try by switching your diet as well. no fast food, drink lots of water, and eat better foods like veggies, fruits, and lean meat.

I'm 5"0' and 95 lbs, so I'd consider 140 unhealthy.
Go see a doctor or pediatrician.
