religion has caused more deaths than nature, they have been waiting 2000 years for jesus and he still hasn't turned up. People pray to god but how many people have had their prayers answered? They pray for peace and to end poverty but both are getting worse by the day. There is no physicial proof that god or jesus even existed.

"religion has caused more deaths than nature" is a pretty bold statement considering nature has caused the extinction of 98% of every species that has ever existed.

Prayers are answered, who's fault is it if you don't like the answer?

We do pray for peace and an end to poverty (along with a long list of other things) - it is only your perception that things are getting worse. Get off your hind end and "be the difference you want to see in the world).

As for physical proof. . . Jesus did exist, there is documentation of the Roman record. As for God - He does exist and the evidence for that is all around you.

There is tons of physical proof. You just have to look.

Religious has not caused more death than nature. And to say so overlooks all the good done in the name of God. Religious people put an end to slavery. Religious people got women the right to vote. Religious people brought down communist and oppressive governments in Russia, Poland and Germany.

War didn't accomplish any of that.

The fact that so many think they know right from wrong without guidance and as such turn away from God is what causes all the problems we face right now.

It sounds like your mind is already made up. Since you don't believe in God, why do you feel the need to ask if religion is overrated? Who is doing the ratings, and what are the statistics to show whether it is rated or overrated, and if overrated, compared to just what ?

That is why there are atheists. Religious people are immoral, and do anything in the name of god, and they think it is OK. Many atheists are trying to undo the damage religion has done.

Your premise is incorrect. While many claimed to be killing for God, were actually killing for personal gain. Just as they did in civilizations that existed before/without God (Greece, Japan, China, Mayans, etc.), they would have killed anyway. It just sounded more civilized to do it for their God.

You can't name one major conflict that didn't truly have economic or political gain as the primary motive. (Don't ignorantly say the Crusades, PLEASE - major trade route, land deeds, ships, GOLD)

Religion has so little to do with even the "holiest" of wars, it's rarely worth mentioning in association with them.

Religion does not exist for God...religion exists for the believers.

Yes religion is over rated, not GOD. Abraham praised the living God, and did not go to a temple, synagogue, or church, but just to his heart.
