I oppose murder, and yet I have the urge to kill anyone who murders. That makes me human, and subject to the death penalty. That penalty makes everyone human, and in dire need for a change of heart.

That change can only occur, all at once, throughout the entire world. Only God can do this, and he will. But don't expect him to say when.

Ok, everyone with a gun in there hands, slowly put them down, slowly, no quick movements, easy, that's it, now step away from the gun...

I am opposed murder. This is my PERSONAL opinion. No man has the right to end the life of another for any reason. I wouldn't want anyone to murder me or anyone close to me, so why should I do it to anyone else. It is a crime that cannot be re-paid, not even with capitol punishment. If you execute a murderer it will still not bring the victim back. A thief can repay what was stolen, a vandal can rebuild or replace what was broken, but a life cannot be restored once it is taken (except by God in the resurrection). Whatever punishment God sees fit to give to murderers will be just, not just legalized revenge that is offered in by the legal systems of the world. In taking a life of a person the murderer has impacted more that his victim, he has impacted the lives of those close to the victim and the whole community.

Murder...."Unlawful" killing.

If there was a law, like there was once here in the Uk, a law that stated one could legally slay any Welshman found within the city limits of Chester without good reason, would this question be different?
Should laws be upheld?
Always?

What is right?
What is wrong?
I cannot condone murder, nor any untimely death caused by the human hand, except for euthenasia, at present, because of the social ramifications that would result from such a decision.

:)

What in the world is going on here?

I am against murder. 'Do unto others as you would have them do unto you' is a great standard to live by. Since I don't want to be murdered walking down the street then I don't want to murder anyone else walking down the street. Besides, the one to be murdered has a family and possibly children. Who am I to take away someone's daddy or mommy? (this does not apply to death penalty candidates though- that's a whole 'nother aspect)
Have a great day!!!

"You shall not murder" Exodus 20:13

"Do not accept a ransom for the life of a murderer, who deserves to die. He must surely be put to death." Numbers 35:31

"Anyone who hates his brother is a murderer, and you know that no murderer has eternal life in him." 1 John 3:15

"But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars—their place will be in the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death." Revelation 21:8

Yes. There are a number of reasons, most of them based on my moral and religious beliefs, as well as my respect for the US Constitution. However, if you are asking this question in this way, I have a reason that may work better for you.

I oppose it becuase I don't want someone to murder me on the street one day. How about you?

Murder is a planned action ( or the result of some other evil planned action). War is killing. I am opposed to murder, but favor a death penalty for murder.

Yes, premeditated Murder is a crime, as well as involuntary manslaughter. But Killing in self defense as a last resort to preserving your life or the lives of others is Ok, For example, was it ok for those passengers on flight 93 to kill the terrorist and plunge the plunge to the ground killing it's passengers and themselves in an open filed rather then the terrorist completing thier mission by crashing into the whitehouse?

I oppose murder because it is economically efficient to do so. If any of us could be killed by someone else at any time with no legal consequences, we would be spending a large part of our incomes on personal protection, which would incur a large deadweight loss (not sure that term is technically correct there) in our society.

Like most people, I oppose ALL killing . . . with exceptions.

"Aye, there's the rub!" (Hamlet - my favorite)

If this stranger were trying to kill me, just about everyone would be in favor of me killing him.

We make execptions all the time - war, abortion, death penalty - when society deems some other interest to outweigh the interest in not killing.

We can only hope we are wise in our decisions.

Why do we respect life? Self-preservation, preservation of the species, empathy, the Golden Rule, etc. Only one or two other animals besides humans kill for reasons other than for food or self-defense.
