I really wanted a puppy, but my parents won't get me one. So, I've decided to wait until I get older. Do you know if Harvard University or any other colleges for ppl training to be a doctor, accepts dogs in the dorm? If so, which ones? And also, do you think it would be a good idea for me to get a dog in college? Why or why not?

Dorms don't allow dogs, but you can look into getting an off campus apartment.

While most people advised you against a dog in college, it is not necessarily a bad idea. Many college students have pets and make wonderful owners. BUT, it does take alot of thought on your part. A dog will live for 10 to 15 years. What if you have to get a roomie, and they hate your dog? Where will you be after college? Will you be willing to take your dog? It will be difficult! Finding an apartment that allows dogs is not always easy. If you are going to be a doctor, who will be with your dog during your internship? You will be very busy, and be working LONG hours. What ifs are very important! Be sure to think them through.

I know many people who owned pets during their college years. They handled the homesickness and isolation alot better than non-pet owners. Just be sure that if you decide to get a pet, you will be as devoted to them as they are to you!

No they do not accept dogs in college dorms. Also in college you do not want to have a dog that is so much responsiblity. Especially if you want to go to a school like Harvard. (Also a really bad idea to choose your college around wich one will let you have a dog) college is really demanding of your time. You may have to have all night study sessions and be in class all day. Dogs need to go outside to pee and they need regular walks and attention. If you do not have time for that it is not fair for the poor animal and very selfish to keep him. I'd wait till college is over and your life is more settled.....try a fish or get one of those virtual computer dogs.... ;)

Some colleges do allow animals in certain dorms. BUT they usually have to be small dogs. Eckerd is one college that allows dogs

I really don't recommend a dog until you are ready and knowe you have the time for it. keeping a dog in a dorm room is bad especially when a dog need stimulation. not to mention you have to walk it outside alot.

They won't accept dogs in college dorms, but you could see about an apartment off-campus. And if you can't afford the rent and stuff alone, see about getting a roomie.

Keep in mind that college will keep you very busy, so you'll want to be sure you'll have time to devote to your puppy before you get one.

Good luck!

No college dorms allow dogs to live in them unless it is a service dog because you are disabled.

If you want a dog in college (which I don't recommend--college is a very busy and transitional time and dogs need a lot of attention), you will have to find an apartment off-campus.
