Yes, i have a online boyfriend, i never met him, but i know what he looks like. I've known him for over a year and a half, and we love eachothere unconditionally. Its all about the love not about looks or even meeting them for that matter.

I suppose it would depend on the integrity of the invididual. In such limited communication, the only personal data that you are able to glean stems from what they willingly give up themselves. We typically find out the most about a person from the non-verbal signals that they send both willingly and otherwise. When you haven't met someone personally, you solely obtain the the verbal half. You miss the intonation that accompanies it. So, I believe it's more likely that you'd be in love with the concept of the individual that the he or she has created more-so than the actual invidual. You can still express affection for the individual, I'm sure, but I wouldn't term it "love."

Perhaps you may feel you can but I don't think it's wise because all of your senses and intuition isn't a factor in your decision if you've never met and these are very important . For instance you can't look them in the eyes or see their body language which help in discovering their sincerity or lack of it , or truthfulness which is often revealed in a face to face meeting. I would reserve the love term until the terms I mentioned were met .

It is possible to love someone you have'nt not met before, but it is pretty difficult. This has to do with your mind set.
When you got a mail or talk to the person how did you feel, what went through your mind, what sensational feeling you get. All the goes a long way to make you know if you should be involved.

I think what you are trying to discribe is what they call infatuation. Being so grossly involved in your own head about someone that your mind turns it into something real for that person. But yet the other person that is being fantazied about is shocked or even frightened when this person comes to them and lays out their "feelings" for him or her. As if a whole realtionship and time had lapsed but without the other person involved. I can see why "falling in love" with someone can happen in cases like this. But from an outside perspective its kinda sad really. You should be able to tell this person how he or she feels instead of bottling it all up. I think that's why you find most "shy" people with this sort of behavior.

Of course you can. I fell in love with a person that was introduced to me over the phone. We would talk for hours on the phone and had everything in common. We did this for about a year and I already knew that I fell for him and he fell for me. We decided to meet each other and when we met it was no awkwardness because we felt like we knew each other already. We went out for three years and it was wonderful. The only reason that we are not together is because I had to move to a different state with my family and he moved back to his country. He still has a special place in my heart.
