lMy understanding is that a boat is named when it is launched, and it may be re-named if it gets a new owner. But once you own the boat, you may not re-name it during the time you own it.

Your boat name is very important to how your boat functions, what goes on in your boat, and how others view your boat. We have a waterskiing boat that we named "The Wet Dream." It has proved to be just that! I'm sure if we would have named it something else, it would not be the beautiful, exciting, hard-working, sexy boat that it is today. Choose wisely!
