I have had diaherra along with some nausea within the last couple days -- also my hubby started and our doggie followed, too. Is there a strain going on?

I work in a lab and a lot of viruses and bacteria that are more common in the winter have been going around this summer. What you are experiencing is not uncommon. Remember to drink plenty of fluids, wash your hands everytime you go to the bathroom. Sanitize anything you have touched after you have gone to the bathroom and before you washed your hands to prevent spreading it. I know it sounds gross but when you have a bowel movement the bacteria can land on anything up to six feet away. Most viruses are spread because the bacteria gets on your hands, you touch something (ie. the handle to flush the toilet.) Someone else touches it, puts their hand near their mouth and winds up swallowing the bacteria. This also causes self reinfection. It is what we call the fecal-oral route of bacteria or viral transmission. You can sanitize by using lysol spray and allowing to air dry or by using a solution of 1 part bleach to 9 parts water. Spray or pour on the surface and wipe off.
