I think the marks they were doing were marks that were for other pagan gods... That's why it ends with...I am the Lord. The people were straying.
As far as piercings...1 Tim. 2:9-10 (NKJV)
in like manner also, that the women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with propriety and moderation, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or costly clothing, [10] but, which is proper for women professing godliness, with good works.
_____
We are to dress modestly. We are not to try to draw attention to ourselves by expensive clothing, lack of clothing, lots of make up, expensive jewelry....
We are not to try to draw attention to ourselves. If you want to have a few piercings in your ears...I think that is fine.
Drawing attention by piercing your face, toungue, lips or cheeks and a belly that you are going to show people is not what I think God would approve of.

Just remember tattoos are PERMANENT!
If you have to ask if you should get one, you are probably not ready for one. Laser removal is very expensive and leaves a really ugly scar. So be sure this is what you want. Try a fake tattoo for a while, gauge peoples reactions and then decide.

Everyone will be given the opportunity to wear the "mark" of the beast in order to buy and sell in the last days. Those who refuse this tattoo will be slain by the beast for refusing to worship him. Those who wear it and worship the beast will receive from God eternal damnation and burn forever in the lake of fire.
What to do? Fear not the beast for all he can do is kill the body. Fear instead God, for He can destroy the Soul. Therefore receive not the tattoo (Mark) of the beast.

This rule does count. The Kenites use to do cut their bodies for the dead. God said not to mark your self. Do you know who the Kenites are? They are decedents of Cain. Do you know who was Cain's father? The devil.
Think about it. If you need more info on this contact me.

The New Testament teaches our bodies are like temples. We should not defile our temple with tattoos or piercings.

This specifically refers to making memorials on your body for dead people.
Tattoos and piercings, so long as they are not memorials to the dead, are perfectly acceptable.

I would say that you found a very good scripture there. My PERSONAL belief is that a persons body is a temple and should not be defaced with grafitti.

I don't think so. I know it says to present your body clean before God.
