Now I hope nobody will argue that muslim women are treated well in islamic countires.

Women are treated badly in Islam, there is no question about that.

Search Islam in Iran.

That is the way Muhammad set it up, he needed an army of men, so he made the rules to make the men happy.

I admire many of the Muslim people, I just think they are miss-led!

Women are often times the most zealous enforcers of so called Islamic law in Islamic countries. I say so called because often times the laws are tribal traditions overlaid with an Islamic veneer to give them legitimacy. Some of the top women vote getters in the Iraqi elections are members of religious parties who campaign on the platform of bring sharia law to Iraq.

Women are well treated under the law in Turkey a country with 95+% Islamic population.

Go figure.

Wow, this is amazing-tragic that they have to resort to this! Why not use the money to go to a country where they are treated better!

In USA and most western countries who perform this surgery, no person can undergo transexual or sex reasignment surgery for a reason like this. A person is "diagnosed" as a primary or secondary transexual! Plus, they have to have years of tests and psychiatric evaluations, years of counseling, at least a year or two of hormone treatments, live dressed in the opposite sex clothes (for years) BEFORE a knife is taken to them. In addition, the majority of people who THINK they are transexual are NOT. Most have some other form of gender dysphoria-confusion that is not transexuality.

In addition, the incidence in females (who are going for male body) is extremely rare! It is very easy to make a female out of a male (since we all essentially started out as female embryologically) but it is very difficult to make a male out of a female. The surgery is much more expensive and the results are no where as successful as the male to female surgeries are. Most Ob-Gyns can't tell a male to female transexual (post operative) if they had a great surgeon.

Even if the move to britain its a shame to say that they can still be treated badly my moms boss wouldnt let his daugther leave the house at all untill she was 30 beacuse she refused to accept her arranged marriage in the end the poor girl accepted it to try and gain some freedom in her life

People go for sex change operations because they are transgendered. Being 'treated badly' is not enough.

This story is either made up or disingenuous. In purporting to 'support' women it in fact says they would be stupid enough to put themselves through months of painful operations for a 'sex reversal' - whatever that is.

I have only seen that argument from Muslim men, and Muslim women. They do not get treated well no matter how you look at it. They try to defend it, because they see it as an attack on their religion.
