Very easy!

The glove is not used on every shot. Therefore, must be tucked away until it is used again. Hanging from a pant pocket is the most appropriate and easily accessed.

Most other golf accessories are tucked in ones golf bag, but not the glove. Might not be the prettiest sight, but its the fashion on the course.

Hope this helps!

I think a lot of amateurs do it because the pros do it. Supposedly, people do it because it enhances the "feel" of the putter when they putt. I think it is bunk. I have kept my glove on ever since I started playing. All modesty aside, I'm a very good putter. It's rare for me to 3-putt, and you golfers know how important that is. I think that the constant taking off and putting on does much to stretch out the glove and make it wear out more quickly. As for the pros, sheesh! Give me a break. Most of them don't pay a penny for their gloves and probably have several in their bag, so they certainly don't need to worry about a little sweat. Ever see a pro bean someone in the gallery? What do they usually do? They autograph a glove and give it away to the person they hit. Then their caddy just hands them another one from their bag.
I agree with other posters, however, that the back pocket is out of the way, and by leaving the it part-way hanging out, the glove does not get as wrinkled if it were to be totally placed in the front pocket. There are some pros (although I can't name one right now) who don't take off their glove when putting. Freddie Couples never wears one in the first place.

The truth is that don't need a glove, but the reason they keep it in the pocket is to keep from getting it wet with sweat.

The golf glove was used back when they used leather grips. Leather on Leather will not slip. Now the grips are rubber. People get used to wearing them and don't feel right without one. They cost way to much money, but it's one of the pro shop's high profit items. They Will not stop you from getting a blister.

When your hand is inside the glove, it sweats. Taking the glove off from time to time allows your hand, and the glove, to get some air. Players put the glove in their back pocket, with the fingers out, to get it some air.

Simple - when it is not being used, such as for soft chip shots or putting...it is a convenient place to tuck it away until you need it again on the tee.
Side pockets are usually reserved for tees, divot repair tools, scorecard etc etc. When you put a glove in your side pocket and then go to pull it out...everything else usually comes with it and ends up on the grass!

In addition to what the other people wrote, I think they put in their back pocket because its readily accesible. They can just reach out and grab it instead ofasking their caddy to go fetch in their bag, or try to find them in their pockets. And, it looks cool, and everyone else does it.
