"As to hiring, the law always allowed religious groups to discriminate on religious grounds - so that the Catholic Church could hire Catholic priests, for example - but that exemption did not extend to employees hired with public funds to provide social welfare. It was a simple, clear rule. If you took public money, you hired on the basis of merit, not piety."
"But Bush wiped away this calibrated distinction by issuing a series of executive orders early in his presidency approving taxpayer financed religious discrimination."
"Margaret Geissman, who is also part of the Salvation Army lawsuit, claims that she was asked by a supervisor to point out gay and non-Christian employees, with the overt suggestion that there would eventually be a purge of sorts"

I cant speak about the alleged incidence you speak of, but the Salvation army started out as a Christian organization, and they should have the right to hire Christian workers, if they want.Do you think that an HIV testing center in the gay district, that got government funding, would hire a Christian, Preacher, or Priest to conduct the tests?

it depends on the phiosophy of the organization
some integrate faith in all aspects of eduction, some compartmentalize it...
a college that wants to have a christian environment, immersing all aspect of the school in christian faith, including how the cafeteria staff acts and how faith is integrated into a math class... then yea they probably can... many evangelical schools are like this model
some colleges segregate the religion faith aspect to be more compartmentalized and some catholic colleges are more like this model and would ony have catholic priests and nun for the job of a catholic priest or noiun of course,,.... and perhaps only a cattholic to teach catholic doctrine... but others for sports or other things
so its not as simple as it sounds
but frankly, I would think twice before accepting government funds , its like the camel sticking its nose in the tent... next thing you know the whole camel is inside and theres less freedom to live the way you would like with the camel sittin on you

Is it surprising? This is a man who touts "faith based initiatives" with impunity. Despite what many want to believe, the seperation of church and state is one of the founding principles of America. As in: "no governmental endorsement of any organized religion."
Will these people not be happy until we're finally under a Christian theocracy?

hi Tina: The Boy Scouts get little or no, if any, investment from citizen tax money. specific, they are allowed to camp on protection rigidity installations, and use public colleges for conferences. So are you. protection rigidity installations are open to the generic public for entertainment applications, provided there is area attainable, and it relatively is no longer getting used with the aid of protection rigidity workers. colleges are public area, and electorate have get right of entry to to the colleges for conferences. some college districts now cost communities to apply the centers, and Scouts pay those expenditures. to notwithstanding if or no longer they might create regulations you do no longer believe, that has been argued and resolved. life ain't user-friendly. Get used to it.

Morality is always a judgement. What is moral to one person is not to another. So, your question could be answered Yes by one person and No by another. Both will have arguments which justify their position in their mind.
Further, the issue of a religion has to be examined. A Christian is not the same religion as a voodoo priestess who kills roosters.

The First Amendment exists for a reason. Bush should be impeached for this alone.

Another thing to piss people off and make Christians wonder why I hate Christians. More christian legislation. Keep the book to yourself, I'm done with it.
