Hey Morgan,

Here is some help. You will need to go through these web sites, and do some research on your own too. The Family Search on LDS will help some. Get Birth and Death certificates for every family member you know about. You write to the State, City, Town records - you can get them on the web - sites see below.

The LDS I mentioned already. Ellis Island is very useful to trace the journey, ship, manifest, passengers traveling with, and actual registration in the US. Cindi's list is a list of lists - very good indeed.

Try to find the Obituaries for your deceased relatives - they always mention who survived them, dates, parents, etc. Very useful.

I searched for Robert at the LDS site, set his birth year as criteria and came up with HUNDREDS of hits. You should find him there, to start. I found that there are family trees already done. I found William BOYD (AFN:1RDJ-7L0) Born: 1794 and if you click on the linke, you will find more!!! If you post your email in the response - I will begin a correspondence - Boyd is one of my ancestoral names too.

Both surnames are english so you they would have had very little ancestry in Ireland. Also very few marrage\birth\death records have survived from that time, (straight after The Famine).
Try http://www.ucd.ie/historyarchives/index.html, maybe give them a call.
Go néirigh an bóthar leat!
(Good luck)
