Yes... here again is a question that a doctor should be made to sit down and answer to the satisfaction of the patient or the parents with the use of a translator if necessary,no matter how busy they may be answering these questions is just part of delivering competent care. A good phisician doesn't mind; simply make a list of your questions and state "doctor ,I have a few questions I need you to answer." No one takes the place of yp=our own doctors knowledge in this regard. How sad to go through this .,best wishes for a full recovery.

it depends on what is causing the liver to swell. the liver has amazing regenerative powers. if the underlying cause of the problem is discovered and treated, the liver can recover. but there are a lot of different conditions that might cause hepatomegaly in a newborn, many of them very serious.

are you asking because this happened to someone you know or this is happening right now? it is best to talk to the pediatrician to determine what is causing the problem.

Ummm..This may be a bit insensitive, but..Yes. A baby without hepatomegaly can die, so a baby with hepatomegaly can also die.
