The concept of satan is simply a state of mind in which is one feels the separation from God. Satan is not some entity with a forked tail and horns, my dear. You have to go a little deeper than some cartoon character. "Satan" is feeling the absence of God. But again, since the absence of God is an impossibility, this feeling is based upon personal belief only and not on truth.
Do you really believe that there is some war for souls? Do you really believe that God could lose such a war? Not I.
Many of the stories in the bible are parables or metaphors not to be taken literally.
Do you think that you should really "cut off your hand if it offend you"? Or that someone should cut off their hand if they steal something? That was a saying or what they call a cultural idiom used back in that day. Translated from Aramaic (the language used in Jesus' time) to English the saying means, if you steal, quit or cut it out. Stop. Don't do that anymore.
Just like how we have the phrase when an employer tells you "You're fired". Does this mean you will be burnt to a crisp? No, it means your employment has been terminated.
Do a little more research and work to expand your mind from the literal before you rush to judgment on this or the concept of hell, heaven, spirit, consciousness or anything in the bible for that matter.

No, it's not true. Unfortunately some people have decided that life would be easier if there wasn't a devil to tempt them. Either they can't understand how God would let that happen, or they don't want to deal with the realities of sin. if you're a Christian and believe in the Bible as a source of truth, you have to believe in a Satan, a tempter and deceiver. We may not know his actual nature and purpose, but he has to be real if you follow the Bible's teachings.

In ancient Jewish tradition Satan is simply an angel doing the work that God assigned to Satan to do.
The word Satan means challenger. With the idea of Satan challenging us, or tempting if you will. This description sees Satan as the angel who is the embodiment of man's challenges. This idea of Satan works closely with God as an integral part of God plan for us. His job is to make choosing good over evil enough of a challenge so that it becomes clear to us that there can be only one meaningful or logical choice.
Contrast this to Christianity, which sees Satan as God's opponent. In Jewish thought, the idea that there exists anything capable of setting itself up as God's opponent would be considered polytheistic or setting up the devil to be an equally powerful polarity to god or a demigod.
Oddly, proof for The Christian satan/devil mythology is supposedly found in the ancient Jewish texts that were borrowed to create the bible. One can’t help but wonder how Christians came up with such a fantastically different interpretation of Gods assistant Satan in their theology.
Other hints about Satan’s role in human relations can be seen if you look at the name Lucifer. It meaning in the original tongue translates as Light bearer or light bringer. Essentially the bringer of enlightenment. The temptations of the Satan idea bring all of us eventually into Gods light. Hardly the Evil entity of Christian mythology.

Satan is make believe, as are most of the things in the Bible. Think for yourself. How much of it makes sense? Do you also believe in talking snakes and donkeys, burning bushes, parting waters, huge floods that covered the planet and impossible healings? The Bible is full of creative tales, but they simply are not true. Your logic and intellect should tell you this.

Satan is a lie. The idea of a being of supreme evil is absolutely ridiculous.

There are people that know the truth and those that do not.
Even some that do not like God know there is a Satan.
There is a Devil, Satan, old dragon.

There is a part of you that loves your parents. The devil is like a hole in that part of you, and that hole lets your love for your parents drain out. It's a subtle thing. You can't cut the hole out, it will only get bigger. You have to fill it.
There are cracks in the sidewalk that leads to your parents house. You can stumble on a crack. Satan is like those cracks. It's a subtle thing. You can't pull the cracks out, you have to fill them.
If you trace the fault lines that separate people who could be closer, in a more trusting, loving relationship back to their origin, you will find a breach in trust. The heartbreaking reality of betrayal can appear to be unforgivable, and we as people find it very difficult to fill that gap between ourselves, by our selves. It is a very subtle fault in our lives. You can't pull the fault line out of society, it has to be filled with unconditional love.
Some things, like outer space, are very real and dangerous, and yet they are entirely void of material or form. And yet, like a vacuum that seems to suck everything around it into it's void, they affect our lives.
And finally, there are people with out love, who suck the love out of us. Like Osama, who is Satanic...
He is really empty...
