I saw the option 'shoe-shine' on a hairdresser list of services and wondered what it relates to. Its a really retro shop so I was wondering if it's some kind of vintage technique?

Well I used to work in a barber shop many years ago. One of the services offered was a shoe shine. Going back to the days when you could get a haircut, facial, shave etc. This is a really popular service in Texas where I'm from. Think cowboy boots, country & western nightclub sort of thing. I worked as a shine girl for a while-it was good money and I met lots of interesting people.

Old barber shops used to have shoe-shine boys as an extra service after a cut and shave. Its just a frill- nothing to do with hairstyling directly though. Mind you it is a nice touch...smart business man/woman who thought to do it now.
