If you all have e-mail, that helps. If you don't have access to e-mail on both ends, then handwritten letters help a lot. My sister went overseas for a year and letters and taperecordings of everyone's voices helped a lot.
Good luck!

The most economical and traditional way is to write letter.
In mordern society, sending regards via email is the most efficient.
Of course, telephone call will still be the best choice, there's personal torch.

My brother in Italy and I send DVD's of home movies we tape weekly. I love getting his because he always tapes an attraction, event or landmark every week with his personal greeting at the end. And he doesn't miss us as much because he can actually see us from week to week. He'll be back in two years, and they are going to make great keepsakes for him. You do have to have camera's in both places for it to work and make SURE your disk have no region barriers.

My sister lives out of state and we keep in touch with the computer. We both have webcams and microphones.
That way we can see each other and hear each others voices.
Our kids love getting to see and talk to each other this way.
And it is cheap.

emails are a great way to keep in touch.....in particular because you can do it as much as you want and you don't have to worry about longdistance.......i'd throw in phone calls once in a while as well because you can hear their voice and it feels more human......like you aren't staring at a computer all day
