how long should it take a recruiter to schedule a recruit for an asvab test? also i am going to MEPS and live in Oklahoma city. I was wondering where i will be going to basic if my mos is going to be in the electronics, aeronautical or technical field. Also if i go to MEPS next monday, will i have the option to leave ASAP? because i would like to leave soon.

should take only a day or two. Recruiters sometimes hold folks back in order to "front load" for the next month to make their mission. As far as where you will go for basic I have no clue. As far as leaving ASAP, if there are openings that coincide for your AIT after completion of basic, that will be no problem. But be prepared for a wait.

Also when you get to MEPS after taking the ASVAB and the physical, you will be with the career counselor. Make sure you stick to your guns as far as what you want to do. Each day the counselor is told what openings the military needs to fill. The recruiters job is to sell you on the military and fill out the needed forms. The career counselor will try to sell you the job.

Good Luck!

It should take a recruiter as quickly as possible to schedule an asvab test for you, which I assume will be at MEPS. I assume that you will be joining the army. I figure that in those MOS fields, you'll probably do basic at Fort Jackson...like most people (but not all, some go to Fort Leonardwood). Ask your recruiter that, he/she should know. If you go to MEPS, expect to be there a long time and not to leave ASAP. You'll leave when they are done with you and everything you'll have to do. I was there hours and hours and hours.

You'll probably do basic in Ft. Leonardwood, Missouri. ASVABs shouldn't take very long to schedule, maybe a month at most. Where you go to school for your specialty may be different than where basic is. MEPS does not give options on immediate departure. You have to have orders cut, assignments made according to class size and availability, etc. Hang in there! It won't take long

Don't be surprised if you end up in Kentucky.
