I was just wondering what is important about 1 and 2 Kings and all of the information about the government and kings back in the world that is in the Bible? What can I do with this information?

Keep in mind Jesus, was 'King of kings'. Ther may be things to learn from them. Pay attention to whattever God discerns for you.

The Messiah was a descendant of the House of David. These books explain the origins of that "royal bloodline" through which Jesus would come into the world.

Since David came from Bethlehem, that explains why Jesus was born there, too.

Bethlehem means "House of Bread" and that's another reason Jesus, the "Bread of Life" and the "Bread That Came Down From Heaven" was born there.

David killed Goliath of Gath and hung his severed head on the wall outside the gates of what was then Jersusalem. Jesus was crucified at that very same "place of the skull" or "Gol-ga-tha" about 1100 years later.

Satan's head wasn't cut off, like Goliath's, but was crushed, just as God promised, way back in the Garden of Eden.

The traditions and rules set up in the early Davidic Kingdom will also likely come into play in God's future kingdom (heaven on earth) once this present age has come to an end.

There's more, but I don't want to take all the fun out of it for you.

Learn from it. As it was said "Those who do not learn from history are condemn to repeat it." And 1 and 2 Kings show that.

They were there to be messengers of the savior and that is very important because if he did not exist than we would all wind up in hell!
