One of my favorite books is The Color of Water by James McBride. This is the story of an African American child raised by a white mother. He asks his mother what color God is and she tells him that God is the color of water. I think that's a very profound answer.

I think He would be a color wavelength that human eyes can't detect, like something way over in the ultra-violet range. Something a glowing blue or purple could cause gamma rays or x-rays, so maybe that's why it's said we can't look directly at God, because of his magnificence.

The Bible says God is fire, and appears to have a similarity to a rainbow around his throne;

Hebrews 12:29 For our God is also a consuming fire.

Ezekiel 1:27 And I got to see something like the glow of electrum, like the appearance of fire all around inside thereof, from the appearance of his his and upward;and from the appearance of his hips and downward I saw something like the appearance of fire, and he Had a brightness all around.
