How do you explain how the Indians worshiped spirits and anything BUT God when Columbus discovered them?? If Jesus HAD come to the America's, wouldn't there be followers of the church here when Columbus discovered America???

Why do you TRY to make sense of the Book of Mormon? There are SO many ways that it can be proven wrong... At least the Bible has YET to be proven wrong in ANY way

peace in Christ

Well, if you read the book of Mormon carefully, you would know that 400 years after Jesus visited the land, those who worship God had all died off, namely the Nephites, who once worship God, and became wicked, and they got kill off by the lamanites. Now, the lamanites do not believe in God, and are idol worshippers.
Does that answer your question? its all at the end of the Book of Mormon. How could you missed it?

I recently stepped away from the mormon faith so I think I have a little insider understanding of how a person can take part in a religion that has no sound "factual" truth. First off mormon's are taught to have blind faith in the founding fathers and that to question the leadership or priesthood is not submissive or holy. There really is a lot of freedom in submission where you follow for following sake. you may not understand this but its along the lines of ignorance is bliss - giving up accountability - similar to the joy of living in your parent basement until you are 25 :). Also being mormon is like a full time job - they keep you very busy serving others so you aren't really sitting around contemplating truths all that much - and if you do seek - there are a ton of lessons and books to read that say the opposite of every truth someone on the "outside" brings up. Third - its hard to leave because it is a family/community thing and by leaving you are separating yourself from those you love - thats a risk and is scary - your mind and heart can do a lot of justifying so that you don't do it. On the other hand I must say - mormons put their faith to work and are some of the hardest working and spiritually "clean" people I know. can you hate a child? the faith is pure and childlike.

Hope this makes sense and brings you some peace. Love not hate.

How would you explain that when Cortez showed up he was revered as a god? It sounds like there may be the possibility that they mistook him for a Christ figure, don't you think? A guy with a beard that comes back after an absence?
As far as the Bible not being proven wrong, I have to ask if you're aware of the fact that the Bible is really the only record of a guy named Jesus. There is no exterior source to check his existence. Jesus himself cannot be proven by any other source (unless you believe in the Book of Mormon). interesting, no?

Frog, I don't understand you, you always try to prove the Book of Mormon wrong with the easiest questions. If you've read the Book of Mormon, you would know that it describes how the civilization that had Christ's church fell into apostasy, and no longer followed Him. That was about a thousand years before Columbus landed.

What was left after over a thousand years of falling away from the truth, was folk-lore traditions of Quetzalcoatl (a white God with startling similarities to Jesus Christ) and ancient stone carvings depicting some stories from the book of mormon (The tree of life stone comes to mind).

Best Wishes

So Sad. You don't have a clue what's even in the book.

Try ordering a free copy and find out for yourself!
