Oh my favorite. I really hope you went to a rescue. Since the Westminster was one a couple of years ago by a newf they have become very poorely bred. People wanting to make a buck. Breeding papers are the easiest to forge and they can tell you anything they want.
I love this breed. Such big OOFFs. I take mine to the local water park on its last day of the seaason. They let the dogs swim the last day they are open. They don't care for the hour ride there but the love the wave pool.

since he is a Newfoundlander, you should name him after a prominant Newfie! I know I suggested Buddy earlier, but after a bit of thought, I think Joey would be better!
some background; Joey Smallwood was both the last Prime Minister, and first Premier of Newfoundland. in 1949, he signed the confederation and made his country the tenth and last province of Canada. he then stayed on as Premier for many years to come after. the decision to join Canada had mixed reaction; people were fiercely nationalistic (still are) but they recognized the fact that Newfoundland was too small to exist on it's own, so gladly joined confederation.
at any rate, Joey Smallwood was that rarest of men, both a consumate politician, and a good and revered man. I think he would be an excellent choice to name your puppy after!

Try to think about his character... things he does, etc. My Jack Russell immediately started stealing my socks, so to me, it was obvious... together with the fact that he is almost completely white, but brown & black over the face (like a mask), I named him The Bandit... or El Bandido... but when I call him it's just Bandit. I think this fits him... and I was trying to be unique to his traits, but it turns out that Bandit is the most common name... for both dogs and cats! Go figure.

With those Big breeds, they need strong names like Titan or Zues or something like that.
