I was raised Catholic and I would answer "yes". And all of the things that you mentioned are manmade. There is no mention of the rosary, Stations of the Cross in the Bible. I never even read the Bible until 6 years ago and I went to a Catholic grade school, high school, and college!

That is a generalization. I don't think I can affirm such a thing, I can only say that for my personal experience, I've seen less catholics than protestants into bible and scripture, but I have found also many catholics with extensive knowledge of scriptures. I've seen no protestant with a roseary, though...
Sacraments is normally a big deal for catholics and not so for protestants.

Doesn't Jesus tell us to pray?

The Bible is read at every Mass, by the way. I recommend the book The Lamb's Supper by Scott Hahn for an explanation of the Mass.

It's unfortunate that so many Catholics haven't read the Bible. I just finished reading it in a college Theology class (I go to a Catholic college.) There are plenty of Catholic colleges that are actually committed to God's work: Thomas Aquinas College, Christendom College, Franciscan University of Steubenville, University of Dallas, Ave Maria University...

Don't think that all Catholics are superstitious. After all, didn't St. Paul say to hold fast to the traditions of our fathers?

Having grown up with a grandmother who doused the house in holy water and sat intently praying the rosary in thunder storms, it always struck me as more a matter of superstition than faith. I grew up in a catholic school, and at each passing siren we instinctively made the sign of the cross. No prayer, no reflection, no talk of god's will, etc, just this simple gesture was to "ward off" bad joo-joo. All I remember of Easter is dwelling on the gore during stations of the cross. If I confessed, rather than brainstorm on ways to curb my bad behavior, I was told that kneeling in front of the curch and praying 2 rosaries would make everything right again. Lost keys? They have a guy for that. Concerned about safe driving? They have a guy for that too! It's all too ritualistic for me, empty and ritualistic.

Catholics , like other organized religions, make up their own rules and traditions..none of which are really biblical. hey look up pergatory in the bible..it's not there...so how then did catholics decide that that is where we go when we die? Too spooky of a cult for me..I think I will stick to the bible. Besides..why pray on beads to Mary....why not pray to God or Jesus???Oh that's right...priests say we are not worthy

Sometime you can only light a candle and pray! Following the ten commandments is not easy for everyone but it must be attempted again and again until the person gets it right.

“Cease to inquire in thyself…’What good shall I do that I may receive life eternal?’ Only abstain from evils as sins and look to the Lord, and the Lord will teach and lead thee”.

The Bible is important.

But more important is your relationship with God which is enriched by prayer.

And of course you can combine Scripture and prayer by praying the psalms. Look into the Liturgy of the Hours: http://www.universalis.com/-800/today.htm

Answer when I call, my saving God. In my troubles, you cleared a way; show me favor; hear my prayer. (Psalm 4:2)

With love in Christ.

You could quite easily argue it especially in Italy. But you cannot generalise about Catholics and Protestants.

Catholics may emphasize certain things more than some Protestant religions, but they're all flavors of Christianity

I would have to say "yes" as we don't memorize the Bible
as others do.....we read it & meditate on some things within it, but don't ask us what's in Matthew 5:1
wouldn't have the foggiest.
