I've done that poll in the spanish version of this site and usually get between 22-24% of people who think he is mythological.
Of course I get flamed a lot for asking this, if you intend to flame please don't, I just want to count how many believe one thing against the other.
Thanks!
Ignacio

Educatexan, Josephus is a very poor reference. I mean he was a very good historian, but the paragraph that mentions Jesus is clearly an interpolation. First it doesn't make sense the way it's written and second, no other author makes reference to such an important document in nearly 300 years.

Right now we're at 4 out of 12 = 33%; and I'm not counting those who think his life was greatly exagerated, they do think he existed.

Well, considering that no historians seemed to notice any of the most overt miracles he was said to perform (causing an earthquake, blotting out the sun, causing the saints to rise from their graves and walk around), and no mention of the "most important person in history" is made my contemporary scholars until some 30+ years after his death, it'd be delusional to consider him anything OTHER than a myth....

Jesus is mentioned in several historical documents, such as the works of Josephus, the Hebrew historian. His existence is historical fact.

I think he was a real person who taught some great things but I think his actions were greatly exaggerated. If a man such as Jesus appeared today, he'd be labeled as mentally ill or a con artist. Let's face it, faith and fact are two different things and that's perfectly okay.

Gonna go with fictional character but the story is based off of either 1 or 2 real people who were rocking the boat at the time.

A man existed who questioned the belief structure he was raised in and he was a pretty enlightened dude. The rest is a composite of other peoples ideas

He was a human being, like me & you. But people thought he was God. It surprises me how so many Christians doubt their own beliefs (I don't mean you, even if you were a Christian). What does that really say?
People, if you want the truth, read more about Islam. It makes sense why we exist in this world.

Jesus is a historically proven real person. No person on this planet can disprove his existance. In fact, no one can rightfully dispute the fact that, despite personal beliefs, Jesus Christ was the most influential person in history.
